Bart What to do with a 13 hour layover at International Airport in Seoul, South Korea?
Returning to the US after spending 12 wonderful days in Bangkok left me at the
International Airport in Seoul, South Korea with a 13-hour layover. Grabbing a taxi, I
asked to go to the Airport Hotel (Note there are two grades of taxi’s in Korea, The
luxury taxi’s located just outside the terminal charge double what the regular
taxi’s charge and are insulted if you ask for a short trip. You need to walk farther
to catch the regular taxi’s but the service is good and they understand enough
English to get you there.) The cost to the Airport Hotel was 1500 won which is about
$1.00US. The hotel have two rates all night and day rate (This day rate had some
interesting options like a wine or whiskey dish which include drink, snacks and candies,
which would be convenient for entertaining your mistress). The day rate was 40,000 won
($30US) and goes from 12 noon to 5 PM but doesn't ask the hotel to deviate these hours.
The overnight rate was 78,000 won ($60US) and is from 12 Noon to 12 Noon. Since I wanted
to use the Hotel for 9 hours I had to pay the overnight rate was 78,000 won ($60US) and be
