Those reviews are all BS. There are cheap girls to be found, if you want. Check out the "diario popular" newspaper, almost the last pages have clear indication of services sold for about 20 dollars. It seems that you can find girls from 30 - 70 pesos for 30min-1h. I call few places and finally went even to one on Florida 461, 1G flat. There are 5 girls working there and the price for one hour is 70 pesos, which is cheap! I think you can pay less if you want to have less time.

The girl that I had was called Celeste. And she was really nice, huge tits and nice body I'd say she was an 8-9. I also had a bad experience with some Tango Girls or something. A guy directed me there from the street. First he talked about tango not about girls. And finally when I went in saying that I don’t have time he said only 1 min. Anyways two girls sat with me and ordered drinks, I did not! And those were 50 pesos each. Well I paid mine and left quick as I realized what was happening. Hey just wanted to give anyone a heads up that’s going to BA looking for sex: be careful, it’s easy to get ripped off. I kept reading about how cheap and beautiful the girls were in Buenos Aires. I was on a trip to Chile so I decided to take a side trip here to B.A. As I walked down Lavalle Street, in the heart of downtown I was constantly being invited into places by men and women handing out business cards with naked chicks on them. I checked a couple out, just to have a look they'd say, with no obligation to spend any cash. Almost every time I’d start talking to a girl to get an idea on the price.

Before I knew it a server would be coming over with a tray of drinks. At least on three occasions I walked (ran) out as they brought the drinks over. I didn't wanna get stuck paying 15 bucks for each one. Usually they'd object and call me back and I'd just book it outta there. The next day I decided I’d stay at a place and try to get laid. I sat with a black girl with a really tight body, nice round ass and an ok face.

I asked her how much for sex and she said one doesn’t pay for sex, one just buys drinks (copas) in exchange for favors. This seems to be the deal for all these places. So I bought her a drink for 60 pesos, like $26 Canadian, and me a beer for 30 pesos, like $13 cdn. This bought me entry to the back room with more privacy.

Here they brought her another drink and me one for "free". She proceeded to take my shirt off and give me a decent shoulder massage. She started to strip and give me a lap dance. She then got on top and put her tongue in my mouth. We kissed as I felt up her body and then she sat down next to me and asked me if I wanted to go to a Private place. I asked how much and she said one more copa.

I figured that's not too bad, 3 copas at 60each was a total of 180, is about $85 Cdn for a lap dance and sex, sure sounds alright. But when the fat ass waitress bought me the bill for the second copa it was 240 pesos about 100 cdn for the lap dance. I said I had never agreed to that price and we all started arguing. I said do I get sex now.No that would be another 240 pesos. So the total would have been about 600 pesos to get some pussy, which is about $280 cdn, which is absurd.

Going rate in Canada for a girl her calibre 6-7 is $200. And Argentina is supposed to be cheap. So I ended up giving her what I had left for the lap dance, I only had about 215 pesos in my pocket. So in the end I paid about 300 pesos or about $130 cdn for two beers, a mediocre massage and a lap dance, I got to feel her up during the dance too.

I almost ran out of that place too but I didn't wanna get into any trouble in a foreign country. I speak fluent Spanish and I still got ripped off. I keep reading all these great reviews of cheap sex here but that's not what I got. I don't think I'll even try to get anymore here. I have decent luck getting sex without paying for it in Canada, I figured it be worth a try here. it wasn't.

By the way the place (to avoid) is on Avenida 9 de Julio near the obelisk, between av. Lavalle and Calle Corrientes. Its got a tiny entrance that goes downstairs right next to the McDonalds.I believe it’s called Kiss. avoid this place at all costs unless you wanna pay just as much as you would in north America.. good luck and peace out.  

I would like to relay an incident which happened to me in Buenos Aires on 11 April 2005.

This happened in a bar called Cafe Lindo which is downstairs on Lavelle near the corner of Florida. I was coming back to my hotel at about 17:30 when I was offered admission to this bar by one of the hawkers outside. On entering the bar I was introduced to a girl who did not speak much English and I do not speak any Spanish. So she bought another girl over who spoke much better English. This second girl explained that if I wanted to have sex that I would need to do this by buying drinks. One drink for the girls company, another for a dance then another for a massage and sex. The drinks started at 30 pesos approximately 10.00 USD and then the price rose for everything after that. I had a drink with the girls and while doing so explained to the one who understood English that I only had just over 300 pesos on me and that I just wanted to have sex with one girl.

This girl assured me it would be enough and then the three of us proceeded to dance. After the dance I was then informed that this constituted a second drink and I would have to pay 60 pesos for each girl. I did this and then was informed that I would have to pay 240 pesos to have sex with one of the girls. At this stage I only had 200 pesos on me.

I was then asked if I had any credit cards on me to pay the difference. I advised that I did not. I was assured by the girls that this would be fine and handed the money over to the waitress who had been bringing us our drinks. The waitress then left and I was advised by the girl who spoke English that I would have to come back with 280 pesos to have sex with both girls. I advised her that I only wanted sex with one girl and had told her up front how much money I had left. I then asked for my 200 pesos back. The girl started explaining to me again that I would need to get 280 pesos for sex with both of them and I again told her I wanted my money back.

This went on for about 5 minutes and then she went and got the waitress again who had taken my money. This waitress came over and just sneered at me and walked off. At this stage I knew I was not going to get my money back so I asked if I returned with 40 pesos if I could have sex with one girl. (Each girl was 240 pesos each). I was advised that I could not have sex with one girl but that I would have to return with 280 pesos for both of them. We went back and forth like this for another 5 minutes before I walked out of the bar in disgust.

I would just like to post this to warn other travellers to avoid Cafe Lindo on Lavelle near the corner of Florida.

Nice little cozy corner restuarant on the corner near the momument of Ave de Julio. I just got back to the scene of BA on hot pursuit. With no posting there and not going back to BA since before the crisis this city is still great. I went to all the great hits such as Cutty Sark and Cafe Orleans. They were still the same but definitely run down since 3 years ago. I soon realized that all the talent had been stolen by all the new neighbors of Cutty Sark.

There must have been 5 places within 10 buildings of each other. Of course I went to all and at each one of them I was the only guy there. The scene was dead for visitors. I didn't know if it was a dead night or just bad times. I am a young guy so I usually don't have a hard time but I couldn't break these ladies. As dead as it was, they wouldn't go below US150.

So, frustrated, I told a cab to take me somewhere special as one does in most cities when all else fails. He took me to a cafe on ave de Julio that was hopin'. 1) Black. I can confirm the large presence of predominantly beautiful women which have lost touch with reality. Quotes started at USD 250/hour, usually were immediately taken down to USD 200 at my initial laughing-out-loud, and at the end of the night that I went, I could have taken home an absolutely sweet and stunning Peruvian girl for the rest of the night at around USD 170. The reason I didn't is explained next.

2) Platynum. This already widely mentioned webpage is the benchmark for pricing and quality. An absolutely gorgeous escort can be had for Peso 100/hour, that's USD 35 (!!), and although among the huge selection, there of course appear to be a bunch of dogs, the ones I picked were extraordinary in all aspects. As mentioned, there are dogs, there are also the obnoxiously priced wanna-be-a-star's but with some basic brain and common sense when making your selection, this webpage is paradise. There simply is no intelligent reason to (a) pay more than 100 Peso/hour, or (b) try to pay less than 100 Peso/hour for the average Recoleta street/club bitch.

3) Speaking of which: I did tour the 4 or 5 places which are around the Recoleta cemetary and were mentioned in previous reviews. Quotes were around USD 100/hour from the ones which I (and obviously they themselves too) considered the prettiest. No further comment, see point 2.

4) I can't help on the cheaper offerings. If that's what you are after, you didn't get the message under point 2, and actually, you might as well stay home since you are in fact missing the whole point of coming to Buenos Aires

In short, you are making an ass of yourself if you do anything other than what's described under 2. Yes, of course, there are some cute ones at Newport (Karaoke Bar which turns into pick-up place post midnight) but why bother. The worst thing there isn't even the abundance of ugly hookers but the simply unesthetic presence of ugly and desperate men.

I used the report submitted by Harry on Sept. 21, 2000 at this site as my basic guide to Buenos Aires. I also discovered some information on my own. I went to the following places described by Harry.

My first stop was Newport, in the elegant Recoleta district. I arrived late at night. Newport did not have a cover but did charge 7 pesos for a drink! I was approached and asked to buy a drink by a club employee shortly after arriving. There were about 30-40 girls there at the time. The club is small and was very crowded--very little room to move around or to sit down. The vast majority of the girls there were white, with a few brown and black girls mixed in. I began receiving offers from girls as soon as I walked in. Please note that Newport is a place where you meet girls and negotiate a deal for sex. You then take the girl to a separate place for sex. Personally, I am more comfortable with brothels in which I can fuck the girl right on the spot. Having to take the girl somewhere else for sex makes it more difficult, especially in a foreign city where I had never been before. I was by myself so I had to be careful. I did meet a pretty Paraguayan girl who was ready to leave with me. She said that she knew a place very close by where we could go. I guess it probably would have been OK if the motel were nearby (Recoleta is a very elegant area with a lot of expensive hotels and night clubs and many people around), but I was a little worried about being led into a mugging or robbery.

Part of the reason was that the girl's price was somewhat low. I had calculated that the going rate for BA would be about 200 pesos per hour, but this girl was asking somewhat less. I know that Argentina is in a recession but I still thought the price was somewhat low, which made me worried. I also asked the girl for her cell phone number, but she didn't have it available. I finally decided not to go with her due to safety considerations. Maybe it would have been ok, but i just wasn't sure.

I also stopped by Password, also described by Harry. I didn't go in because I think they had a high cover charge and it was late. Password is located in the Recoleta area at Guido 1963. The telephone is 4802-0053. Password is on a side street, about a 5 minute walk from the big hotels.

In Recoleta near the big shopping mall is a strip club called Solid Gold. Solid Gold is at Azcuenaga 1926 and the phone is 4803-9293. Although I went very late at night, when I walked into the club there was nothing happening. No girls were dancing on stage. People at the club said that there would be girls dancing later. The cover was 15 pesos, which included one drink. The action in Argentina starts very late at night, which I didn't like. It was kind of crazy that the nightlife often didn't even get started until after midnight! There is another strip club near Solid Gold which was charging a US$20 cover. I didn't write down the name of this club.

On a later evening, I stopped by the Black's club described by Harry. It is directly across the street from the 5 star Alvear Palace hotel. Black's charged a 20 peso cover, which includes one drink. I was actually pretty disappointed by Black's. It supposedly has some of the prettiest girls in BA. However, when I was there it only had THE HIGHEST PRICES IN BA. Black's had about 20 or so girls working there when I went. Most girls were white, but there were a few brown girls from other countries. There were several negatives about Black's from my standpoint. I talked to about 6 or 8 women during the time I was there. Contrary to what Harry said, if you reject a girl most of the other girls will not refuse to speak to you. I was able to decide not to take a girl and the other girls were perfectly happy to talk to me.

I have found in the past that I much prefer to hire a girl for the shortest time period possible (15 minutes is the best). The reason is that if the service is bad then I have only wasted 15 minutes worth of money. However, if I hire a girl for two hours and she is terrible then I have just wasted two hours of money. In addition, the quality of girls in Black's was no higher than the quality of girls in Newport--they just were charging much more money. Also, each girl in Black's wanted me to buy her a very expensive drink for 40 pesos before she would leave the premises with me! I spent several hours in Black's and did not find one girl who was charging a reasonable price and time limit. There is also no entertainment in Black's such as a strip show. Black's girls apparently get all their business from foreigners who have no idea what the cost structure in BA is. Don't bother going to Black's--it's basically a tourist trap.

I stayed in the section of town near the Galerias Pacifico shopping center (near Plaza San Martin). I received a business card for the Tributo night club at Chacabuco 166 (cross street Alsina) but did not have time to try it. Apparently it's a strip club/sex show of some kind.

Florida street between Lavalle and the Plaza San Martin is a pedestrian shopping street. There are street hookers standing there during the evenings. The girls were asking 50-80 pesos, but I have never used a street girl and was worried to try one. I did see one guy take a street girl into one of the numerous internet cafes, where he fondled her upstairs. I also saw another guy take a street girl into a taxi, where he left the door open so passersby could watch him fondle the girl! There are various barkers (male and female) handing out cards for brothels on Florida Street. I took the card from one and was led to a nearby place. I went inside and it was very dark. There were several girls. I asked whether I could get a 30 minute minimum. None of the girls would do less than 30 minutes, so I decided to leave. Girls were asking much more than 200 pesos per hour (so much more than 100 pesos per 30 minutes). Sorry, I didn't get the name of this place.

Finally I met a guy on the street who led me to an apartment building with numerous flats. He took me upstairs to one place, but the girls got upset because he wanted a commission that was more than they were willing to pay. So we went several floors up. The building is at Esmeralda 536 . I was able to negotiate oral sex (blowjob) from a very pretty Argentine girl named Claudia. She insisted on a condom, which is safer. I was a little nervous about security but this place was fine. Some apartments in BA serve as brothels! Claudia charged 40 pesos for 15 minutes, but I was not able to touch her for that price. I later found out that I could have had her take her clothes off and touch her for 50 pesos total! We had a private bedroom within the apartment. She speaks Spanish only. Claudia is a good provider but a little pushy about the money--make sure to agree on everything before handing over the money.

~~For a short stay in BA, I recommend a visit to Madajo's (spelling may not right) on Azquenaga St., at the other site of the Recoleta cemetery. According to the bartender, an average of 90 ladies and some nights even more. I am able to confirm that this is correct. The going rate is $ 50-80 depending on the rating of the girls whom I would gauge at 8, a few 9s. As most of things in Argentina, the action starts late i.e. 10:30pm onwards.~~
