Police allege activity operated out of Waukesha apartment complex
Prostitution charges were issued Thursday against three women, accusing them of playing roles in a prostitution service run out of a Waukesha apartment complex for more than three years.
The women were charged in criminal complaints indicating that the service operated out of the Meadows, in the 2400 block of Springdale Road, from 2000 to 2003 and involved numerous customers and dozens of women who acted as prostitutes. The complaint also indicates that the charges were at least in part made possible by the cooperation of a man who was convicted last year of operating an escort service known as Centerfold Girls.
xxx, 42, of Sullivan was charged with three counts of keeping a place of prostitution, one count of prostitution, one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and is identified in the complaint as the manager of the service.
xxx, 27, of Milwaukee and xxx, 30, of Menasha were each charged with one count of prostitution and one count of keeping a place of prostitution in criminal complaints indicating that they worked as prostitutes.
All three women are scheduled to make initial appearances on the charges in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Jan.23.
Court records identify the primary operator of the service as xxx, 39, of Sturtevant. He pleaded no contest in November 2004 to a pandering charge. He was sentenced in March by Circuit Judge Donald Hassin Jr. to four years of probation that included one year in jail.
The investigation into the alleged prostitution service surfaced after police served a search warrant at xxx's home and an apartment in the Meadows in May 2003. Police said they seized more than $10,000, sexual devices and condoms.
When Hassin sentenced xxx in March, he ordered $10,000 of the seized funds forfeited to the Waukesha Police Department, which conducted a lengthy investigation into the operation.
An affidavit filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court after the raid says police also seized records that included "handwritten ledgers on information such as expenses and income."
The criminal complaint filed against xxx indicated that police got a significant lead in the case in April 2003 from a now 23-year-old woman who told investigators that she worked briefly for xxx as a prostitute. Although she quit, he told her that if she ever changed her mind, she could resume working for him because "she was exactly what the guys wanted," according to the complaint.
The criminal complaint filed Thursday includes information provided by several self-avowed customers in addition to the former prostitute and xxx. The customers said they paid $200 for each visit, the complaint says, and that women providing sex included xxxx and xxx.

New Berlin police sergeant accused of soliciting prostitute, info current as of late July, 2005.
A New Berlin police sergeant was charged Wednesday morning with soliciting a prostitute who was actually an undercover Milwaukee police officer.
Robert xxxxxx, 41, was charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $10,000 and nine months in jail. The 17-year veteran of the department is assigned to the training division.
The New Berlin Police Department will soon launch an internal investigation "when it is appropriate," said Lt. David Dunn of the department. The department placed xxxx on administrative leave Wednesday, and he will remain so until the internal investigation is done, Dunn said. By state law, xxxx will be paid while on suspension.
"The officer will be given due process," Dunn said.
The complaint alleges that:
On Tuesday afternoon, xxxx, who was off duty, was driving on S. 24th St. near W. Greenfield Ave. when he motioned an undercover Milwaukee officer posing as a prostitute to his car. Scrima offered the undercover officer $15 for oral sex.
Milwaukee police have been conducting prostitution stings for more than a year citywide.

Info current as of late July, 2004. A nice way to round out the previous sting reports for this area. A Milwaukee police officer who works the late shift from Midnight to 8 a.m. stopped a prostitute, found she had an arrest warrant, and made the girl give him free sex while he was in uniform, in his squad car. A local resident witnessed the incident and reported it to police. Computer records revealed the computer check of the prostitute's record with no subsequent arrest. The matter was referred to the district attorney. There were 300 arrests in the city during those "major sting operations." Of course, it seems like with every major sting operation in every city the police must be prepared for at least one good scandal, whether it's internal or merely tears apart some pillar of the community.

Info current as of late December, 2004. A Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department detective who was robbed and locked in his car trunk after an encounter with a prostitute was sentenced to probation for lying to police about the May incident. He was found in the trunk of his personal vehicle in the 2400 block of N. 17th St. on May 2. He told investigators that he got off work at midnight and saw a woman crying at N. 15th St. and North Ave. and gave her a ride home. When he dropped her off about 2:30 a.m., he was robbed, he told investigators.But he later admitted that he had picked up a prostitute and paid her $15 to perform a sex act. Two men approached and robbed the off-duty on-booty officer of his wallet, badge, handcuffs and two gun clips, then locked him in his trunk, according to the complaint.
