The rest stop is on Interstate 20 near Joy Mountain Road in eastern Smith County. The Pickle Posse promises they will ride again and lasso some lot lizards. This information is from mid-July, 2002, but since these Texas towns have few to no reports, it may prove helpful to somebody, so here goes. There are reports of street walkers in downtown Brownsville dressed just like normal shoppers. One street walker arrested was seven months pregnant. Police did conduct one sting in July of 2002, apparently dragging along a juicy little hispanic television reporter who gets wet at the very sound of "cop talk," but no indication this is a regular thing when juicy reporters are not tagging along. But Harlingen police say they conduct stings regularly. One of the regular areas is Veteran's Park, also known as La Placita, which is a nice shady playground surrounded by bars. The prostitutes in Harlingen are well known, work in broad daylight, and some have been busted for "decades."
In McAllen, police say prostitutes will leave their windows open and dress provocatively to attract cars driving by. There is reportedly a McAllen motel where rooms practically have revolving doors for all the tricks being turned there, but the name of the motel is unknown. Police in Tyler set up the largest sting operation in the city for several years, arresting women for drugs and prostitution in what they call a "high prostitution area" where Highway 69 intersects with Loop 323. Seven women were arrested, ages unknown. Amarillo police arrested 12 people; five women and seven men, but wouldn't characterize the arrests as a sting operation. Apparently they somehow managed to observe and document the interactions between the johns and the SW's and swooped in for the arrests. Unknown how this happened, but watch out and be warned. Most of the suspects were arrested on Amarillo Boulevard, and a few in a "neighborhood to the north." Police say prostitution is usually limited to Amarillo Boulevard.
