Sioux Falls Prostitution Case Began Online
It's a not crime Sioux Falls police have to deal with often. (Mostly because of the lack of warm, human bodies in South Dakota) But Friday night they arrested a woman for prostitution.
("Her body was still warm," said Patrolman Erick E. Erickson. "Yah, sure, you betcha, I checked.")
Officers found her on an online escort website. They say that's the primary way prostitution makes its way into the city. (Streetwalkers don't walk the streets because they will slip and fall on the ice, in winter, or get bitten to death by mosquitoes, in summer)
24-year-old XXXX is charged with misdemeanor prostitution after police said she offered sexual acts for $300 at a local motel. Officers say she admitted she travels from Omaha to Sioux Falls once a month for "dates."
("I hate the drive," she said. "I worry that I will slide into a snowy ditch, and die of exposure.")
Police want to remind people that both prostitution and unlicensed escort services are illegal in Sioux Falls.
Her online profile still says she's accepting dates for last weekend, but her Friday night "date" with an undercover officer landed xxxxxx in jail.
Officers began investigating a week ago, on the a national escort service website. Using the alias "Hailley Palmer," xxxx is the only escort on the website servicing Sioux Falls.
"It's something we can take pride in," said Patrolman Erickson. "At least we have one escort. It's not like we're North Dak ota, where they have, oofda, none for the whole state."
She claims to offer things like erotic massage and private dances.
But if she offers sex for money, like officers say she did Friday, she's breaking the state's prostitution law.
In Sioux Falls, there's even a city ordinance regulating legal escort services that just provide dates. It says they have to be licensed. And there are no licensed escort services in the city. (In this way, escort services are like so many other non-existant services in the city, where civilization barely has a foothold on the frozen tundra.)
That means even the escort services in the local yellow pages, if they provide escorts in Sioux Falls, are breaking the law.
("At least we have yellow pages," said Erickson. "Did I mention NORTH Dakota? But let me tell you this...don't lick escort ads in the yellow pages. Why? You don't want to know.")
Because prostitutes in Sioux Falls don't lurk on (bitterly cold and icy) street corners, catching them is time-consuming for officers. But they say it's important to remind the public that the crime isn't tolerated. (Nor, for that matter, are outsiders who bring new ideas and new DNA)
The maximum penalty for someone convicted of prostitution in South Dakota is a year in jail and a $2,000 fine. Officers say they arrest about a half-dozen people every year for the crime.
("Ya, sure, you betcha we shake their hand all hearty-like, because we're just glad we have half a dozen people whose dicks haven't frozen off yet, doncha know, der," said Erickson. "We usually find out der from Nort Dakota, doncha know, desperately looking for some action down south.")

Yes, there is a city in South Dakota called Tea and I'm here to tell you about the massage parlor there. The short executive summary is as follows: I didn't get any sex, but I'm convinced sex can be had there once the one lady working there warms up to you...but there's just one Korean lady in her early 50's, who could pass for 40's. So if you were on I-29 South, you would turn right. It's harder to get there from I-29 North, because the overpass is under repair and will be for quite some time, so you pretty much have to get on I-29 South and turn right on the 73 exit. From the exit, go to the right, almost into the town of Tea, home of "Teapot Days," woo woo. You will pass by some light industrial activity, a fireworks stand, maybe a car or farm implement place or two...go about a mile or so until you get to the first stop sign. There will be a sign for. Go left at the stop sign. Right ahead of you, just to the right is a large convenience store called Get And Go. Behind the convenience store is a small strip mall called, I think, Woodridge Mall. There isn't really much of anything else out there, so you can hardly miss it, and the massage place is extremely well marked with Asian stuff on the exterior door. It's now called China Massage. So the lady had me sit down while she finished with a customer...the door buzzed loudly when I came in and there was a security camera. There was an alter to the mother of the Buddha with burning candles and all kinds of Asian stuff on display, including pictures of lovely Asian women. All very encouraging signs. The lady made me fill out a form and the form said something about how any sex talk would result in termination of the massage session. She never even asked me about the crap on the form, back problems, whatever. I disrobed completely and just laid a towel over my ass. She covered me with a blanket...massage, massage...good god, it went on forever. When she massaged my hand she had it up against her breast, up against her thigh...I tried to give her subtle signals, but she was being overly careful. Info current as of mid-September, 2004. Crazy with fear that their city would be flooded with massage parlors offering handjobs under a supposed "loophole" in state law which only prohibits intercourse, Sioux Falls passed an ordinance which prohibits touching anybody for money. You would think the chiropractors would be upset but, well, that would imply Sioux Falls has chiropractors and can we *really* assume such a thing? I don't think so. The charges were dismissed after it was found the state statute prohibits sexual penetration for a fee, but does not address touching of any sort. The attorney general is looking at the law. It would appear that a brief "golden era" may have dawned in South Dakota until the legislature gets around to making changes. I notice you have no reviews for South Dakota. But I found the hottest strip joint I've ever been in Rapid City, Show Girls on Main Street. All the girls were young and reasonably attractive, one a total fox who looked like a young Brigitte Bardot or Barbarella Jane Fonda. Unfortunately I have doubts about her intelligence. This is another bar where you put a dollar on the bar and the dancer does a dance for you. But the girls at Show Girls all got up on the bar and spread their legs right in front of your nose!
