10 charged in High Point prostitution ring
HIGH POINT — Ten people face prostitution-related charges following an undercover operation in the West End neighborhood, police reported today.
The arrests followed High Point police observing an increase in street-level prostitution during the past several weeks along the 800-1400 block of West English Road, police said in a press release.
On Monday, officers went to the West End area and arrested all 10 suspects within an hour.
They were taken before the magistrate and placed in the Guilford County jail in High Point under a $500 bond.

The Greensboro Police Department has announced plans to form a partnership with several local agencies to combat prostitution in the city.

"Operation Help" is described as an action plan that addresses the problem and will involve other agencies that specialize in finding ways to approach, manage, and resolve the three key factors.
Investigators say they've already run an undercover operation to identify alleged prostitutes so they can offer them drug treatment and other assistance.

GREENSBORO -- Police arrested five people Tuesday on prostitution-related charges after a morning search of their Greensboro escort service.
The arrests cap a six-month investigation into Midnight Entertainments Escort Service at 512 Muirs Chapel Road, which is directly across the road from Westover Church.
About a dozen women were featured on the service's Internet site before it went offline Thursday afternoon.
"It (didn't) leave much to the imagination, if you know what I mean," said police [and former porno star under his real name] Capt. Rick Ball with the department's vice/narcotics division. Charges are being developed against many of the women, Ball said. Forensic computer specialists also are searching two hard drives that police believe contain client lists.
"There are a number of these establishments in Greensboro or surrounding areas," he said. "When we have reason to believe they are a front for prostitution or other types of crimes, that's when they draw our attention.
"I can tell you right now there are two others we're looking out. My suggestion to them is to close up shop and take their business to some other city."
The five men facing charges are [here it lists], whom police said all lived inside the Muirs Chapel Road house, and [another], who listed his home address as [his home address]. With the exception of xxx, 51, all the suspects are in their mid-30s. Police records state xxx was the business owner.
Ball said his officers started gathering complaints from residents in the area and from the church itself.
Westover Church's executive pastor said his congregation and staff didn't know what was taking place at the house, but they were certain it wasn't anything holy.
Clients and escorts used the church's parking lot until employees started placing fliers on cars telling drivers that parking was only for congregates.
"You just knew there was something going on when you saw that many people coming and going at all hours of the night," the Rev. Todd Halver said. "They weren't having a Pampered Chef party."
This week's raid comes seven months after the owners of another Greensboro-based escort service pled guilty to arranging trysts between its female employees and male clients.
[Married couple] also forfeited more than $8,000 in cash, computers and video equipment they used to run the Innovative Beauties online venture. They closed when police this past June retrieved client lists, computers and video equipment while executing a search warrant at the husband and wife's home and business.
"Our objective is not to make arrests," Ball said. "It's to shut this kind of business down."
