A prostitution sting in eastern Durham yielded six arrests Thursday, according to police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.
The following women were taken into custody:
* Christina xxx, 39, of Commonwealth Street, was arrested on Angier Avenue near Bruce Street and charged with soliciting for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
* Jennifer xxxx, 25, of Mozelle Street, was arrested on Angier Avenue near Bingham Street and charged with soliciting for prostitution.
* Sharon xxx, 33, of East Club Boulevard, was arrested near Juniper Street and Hyde Park Avenue and charged with soliciting for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia.
* Vonnie xxx, 50, of East Main Street, was arrested on Angier Avenue near Blacknall Street and charged with soliciting for prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia. (And of failing to agree to lay down arms and be faithful to the Union after participating in the Civil War)

Officers conducted the sting along Angier Avenue and on Holman and Juniper streets, targeting the prospective customers of prostitutes known to operate in the area. The sting was in response to several complaints of prostitution in the area. Police also filed two drug possession charges.
The operation was the second sting targeting so-called "johns" in a month. In the last week of November, police conducted another undercover operation just east of downtown Durham along East Main Street and Angier Avenue that netted 11 men.
Their pictures, names and addresses were placed on the Durham Police Department Web site under a link titled "Prostitution Offenders." Police have said they plan to add more suspects to the site as arrests occur.Please note, also word of *another* bust that happened on or about November 24, when 11 men were busted in the area of East Main Street and Angier Avenue.
