Edina police are investigating an alleged prostitution ring that was operating in an apartment complex located next door to a police and fire substation.
One man is in jail and two women have also been charged in connection with the alleged prostitution ring that was reportedly operated out of the Durham Apartments in the 7200 block of York Avenue.
The criminal complaint outlines an illegal business, that operated in a seventh floor apartment and involved a near-around-the clock schedule. This was the first sting operation for Edina police in several years.

Arrested is 54-year old Guowen xx who is charged with operating a prostitution ring which is a felony offense. Authorities say they've confiscated records that seem to point to an elaborate operation.
"We found one ledger in the apartment after the arrest was made and counted up 34 pages with entries filling the pages. So there were over 500 appointments from September to the 19th of December," said Edina Police Chief Mike Sitari.

Five women ages 18 to 33 were arrested along with a 57-year-old Little Falls man. The arrests came after search warrants were executed at the Camp Bar along Highway 115 and a Green Prairie Township residence. The arrests came in the early morning hours Friday with Morrison County deputies assisted by officers from the Minneapolis Police Department. Morrison County Sheriff Michel Wetzel said he does not know how long prostitution was going on at the Camp Bar, but he said the crimes were flagrant and not limited to single events. Undercover officers had no difficulty being offered sex in exchange for money, Wetzel said. The Camp Bar has been operating with exotic dancers, Wetzel said. But he said the activity crossed the line from exotic dancing into prostitution. The women arrested were working as strippers. "There have been rumors and rumblings for years," Wetzel said of possible prostitution in the area. "I started getting a number of complaints this last fall and into the winter." With complaints and tips from the public, an investigation began last winter. Wetzel contacted the Minneapolis Police Department for its experience in vice crimes and the department loaned a couple of officers to help with the case. "The investigation verified (prostitution) was occurring and the arrests were made," Wetzel said. Formal charges were not yet filed Friday in Morrison County. The five women and one man were arrested and released Friday. Wetzel said the county attorney is preparing formal charges. Wetzel did not know whether the women had previous convictions. He said the man is a longtime area resident. And he said the bar has operated as an adult-use business for about 25 years. As for clients, Wetzel said they were a mixture of military personnel, area residents and other civilians who were drawn from a wide area. About 16 Morrison County deputies and four Minneapolis police officers were involved in the investigation. The Little Falls Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol were on standby if more help was needed. Wetzel said they did not detect drug use beyond a small amount of marijuana being present. Wetzel said he does not believe there are more organized prostitution rings in the area. "This is the only establishment we heard of where it was actually occurring in the business," he said, adding it was not a case of strippers involved in prostitution without the owner's knowledge. Clients paid anywhere from $250 to $300, Wetzel said. The business operated with ever increasing charges -- beginning with a cover charge to enter a basement area where women danced topless and another price to go to a room where they were nude, Wetzel said. He said there was physical contact between dancers and patrons in a "couch dancing area." Prices were substantially higher to enter a "VIP room," Wetzel said, adding patrons then negotiated payment for certain acts directly with the women.
