Late December, 2005. Police hauled 34 people to jail Tuesday during a sting targeting drugs and prostitutes.
Officers raided homes on E. Dartmouth Street, Lyon Street, Avenue B and Cecil Drive after undercover officers bought drugs at each home.
The city's vice unit also used cops posing as hookers to pick up customers along the 4000 block of S. Dort Highway.
The raids netted 34 people on nine felony charges and 59 misdemeanor charges. Police also seized $4,600 in cash, crack cocaine, marijuana and a large amount of ammunition.

Prostitutes' customers face loss of car in Flint (Late May, 2005) FLINT -
Police are sending an expensive message to men looking for prostitutes in the city. Men caught trying to solicit sex have the choice of paying $900 to keep their car or losing it to the Flint Police Department. A prostitution sting on the city's east side early Saturday netted 10 vehicles, including a sewer cleaning company's truck. Police arrested 11 men. The sting was part of a two-day operation planned this weekend in neighborhoods on the city's east and north sides where hookers are a long-standing problem. "It leads to drugs and other problems," said Flint police special operations Lt. Phil Smith. One of the men arrested in the sting had $400 worth of crack and some marijuana, and another was carrying two baggies of suspected marijuana.
With no space to lodge men in the county jail for soliciting hookers, Flint police are trying to dissuade johns by taking their cars. The men have 48 hours to come up with $900 for their car before the city begins a forfeiture action. Wayne and Oakland counties have a similar policy, which Smith said prompted johns from those areas to come to Flint because they thought they wouldn't lose their car. Flint has seized about 60 cars under the policy since September, said Smith. The city declined to seize one car during that time because it wasn't worth much more than $900, said Smith. One suspect paid the $900 to get his vehicle back. After they get their cars back, police said the men still face the possibility of 93 days in jail for solicitation.

Prosecutor follows up on prostitution bust Owners of several businesses sought Genesee County — (01/24/05)--Friday, police initiated a crackdown on prostitution linked to Flint-area massage parlors and bookstores. Monday night, the county prosecutor was going after the owners, the prostitutes and others involved. Flint police say they went undercover to some message parlors and bookstores. They paid for legitimate massages, but were later offered much more than that. When police raided five Flint-area message parlors and bookstores Friday, they arrested 16 people for illegal sexual activities. It followed months of undercover operations by Flint police. The owners of two of the establishments, whose names aren't being released, were also arrested. Police are familiar with them. They were arrested during a similar bust back in 2002. The prosecutor says he'll attempt to get a judge to padlock all five establishments: Velvet Touch locations in both Flint and Mt. Morris Townships, along with Chuggy's, Best Therapy and Ashiana Health Spa. Leyton says he isn't releasing names because the owners may face additional charges, including racketeering. It's been more than a year since I toured Flint in search of some temporary relief and I had decided to go based on past reports of the alleged 'street action' along Dort Highway. Maybe my timing was poorly but I have never discovered the perhaps well hidden walking treasures along this road, and I have driven as far up to nearly get lost somewhere in the dark stretches of the 'wonderfully, logically designed' (*cough*) typically meandering Michigan streets. There is no shortage of police cruisers in this town, that is for sure. However I did notice on two separate midnight excursions along MLKing Ave three possibilities (1 white, 2 black) that gave the usual 'look n wave' but I never partook in the pleasure of their company due to excessive traffic.
If you want to check it out for yourself because you think you will have better luck than I and you're not from the Flint area, take I-75 to exit 122 (Pierson Rd), go east about 2.5 miles. MLKing is on the righthand side before you reach Saginaw St. Saginaw, by the way, may be worth a look also, but be prepared for a no action night either way. If you want to check out Dort Highway too, then get off at exit 109 and drive all the way (about 10 miles) to Pierson and go west to Saginaw and you know the rest (remember: MLKing on the lefthand side ;) When you've exhausted your patience, go to Detroit. Action on Dort Highway is available, but the girls are not the best looking and are usually in a rush... also a lot of police traffic so be careful. Went to the Sun Spa, Dort Hwy, right on the border between Flint and Burton. Been there three times,~~got FS each time. Go in, ask for a big bed, give the girl $150 and that's it. The street action in Flint is in two places. One is on the Dort Highway,
south of 69. Ladies are almost always ugly, but usually young. They
tend to hang out right next to the liquor store on the east side of Dort;
the one next to the entrance to the trailer park. Beware of the TV!
Also, once, a girl got into my car. After we drove around
