Newport, Kentucky, is in Campbell County. It's near Dayton, Kentucky and Fort Thomas. It's part of that whole Cincinnati, Ohio slash Covington, Kentucky urban mess.Anyway, in August, 2004, the County Attorney was wanting to bust a self-described "private swingers club" on 1027 Monmouth Street, a block from Newport City Hall. City Hall has successfully closed all but two of the strip clubs that once flourished in the city, but the Pure Social Club's status as a private club allows it to operate free of governmental control. It has a website which says "expect nudity, sexual activities." The city ignored it for a couple years, but some candiate for city commissioner decided to make it an issue. Both the phone number and the website were disconnected in light of the publicity. The website formerly gave a comprehensive rundown of how to join the club, the kind of people who were already members, rules against alcohol, illegal drugs, prostitution. There were also matter-of-fact descriptions of the club's amenities with pictures of the type of sexual activities available.
There is a "Swapper Suite" which is "Great for four or moresomes." ("Tee hee. OK, it's a tough choice, but I'll take the "moresomes.") It is comprised of two rooms connected by a door. There is a "Swing Room" sporting a "love swing," and large secluded area called the "Play Pen" which is filled with pillows. Members could get a private room with just enough space for a twin bed, a black light room with black walls and a black carpet, even a room with an aquatic theme and schools of fish. Shag-a-delic, baby! Anyway, according to the site, people who want to join the club were told they must fill out an application that asks how long the applicant has lived a "swingers" lifestyle and if the applicant has ever been convicted of a sexual offense, taken illegal drugs, or worked as a member of law-enforcement or the news media. To get into the club, the website said, members must show a membership card and a driver's license or other valid ID to prove they are at least 21 years old. The club said drugs, prostitution and gambling were prohibited on its premises.But the club was under pressure because some pathetic office seeking guy wanted to make sure, just, you know make REALLY REALLY SURE the rules aren't being broken, no bad films being shown, etc. Others say the club generates no trouble calls, not even for litter or parking problems. The city does routine fire inspections and has no problems. Any info? This place still up and running? Submit reports, guys.
