Just spent two weeks in Sarasota. There are girls all along US41 from a few blocks north of the quay to the Ringling Museum. Maybe 6 to 10 girls total. They are a real mixture of crack-whore to cutie.

I have seen some girls about 1/2 mile North of The Quay to about 1/2 of a mile south of Ringling Place. Especially around the hotels/motels in this area. The last I drove through there was Sept 19th and what I saw during the daytime were several white girls from their early 20's to 30's and a few actually were really cute, made me turn around to look again. Information current as of April 30, 2004. Police in Sarasota arrested 11 women on prostitution charges, as well as some miscellaneous drug charges. The women ranged in age from 18 to 47, but were mostly late thirties, early forties. The street location is unknown. Curious about why, I drove past some of the shops where I used to go and made a few phone calls and did a search of recent newspaper articles at a public library where I found articles about prosecution of the owners of the shops for profiting from prostitution. It appears there are only two lingerie modeling/body rub shops still operating in the City or County of Sarasota, both on the west side of U.S. Route 41 a short distance south of the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport, just south of the City of Sarasota/City of Bradenton and Sarasota County/Manatee County line:~~ ~~Sheer Sensations, 5119 U.S. Route 41 (west side), Sarasota, south of University, near the intersection with Mecca,. The neon sign says "private modeling". ~~~~Pleasures II, on the west side of U.S. Route 41, south of Sheer Sensations, where 42nd and Gary intersect Route 41: This is a pornographic book and magazine store with large yellow sign. It includes a section where (when I was there two or three years ago) there were what looked like two bedrooms where young female "lingerie models" do whatever it is they do in private with customers. A sign in front of the shop says "Experience the pleasure of our girls." ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~~~Driving through Bradenton, Florida I saw lingerie modeling shops there are still open. Bradenton is adjacent to Sarasota on the north side. Bradenton is in Manatee County rather than Sarasota County. U.S. Route 41), on the west side, in Bradenton - ~~~~Royale Relaxation, 1248 Whitfield Avenue, Bradenton - open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. ~~~~Ultimate Relaxation, 6818 14th Street West (U.S. 41), Whitfield Plaza shopping center, Bradenton, FL 34207 (not in Sarasota as I previously reported) - open until 6 or 7 p.m. six days a week, closed Sunday ~~~~Xanadu (formerly named Xandria), 777 Westmoreland, at the intersection with U.S. 41 (west side), north of the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport - open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ~~~~X-treme Video & Lingerie, 2435 1st Street, Bradenton, near intersection with 23rd Avenue - : This is a pornographic video shop where there used to be and probably still are private rooms where you can go to be alone with one of the female "lingerie models." ~~~~ ~~ ~~~~~~ ~~In Palmetto, a town between Bradenton and Tampa about a half hour drive from the northern edge of Sarasota, there is a lingerie modeling shop that is still advertising in the Bradenton Herald: Naughty Lady, 5300 US 41 North - , not to be confused with the Naughty Lady shop in Sarasota that has been gone for about three years. ~~~~Most of the lingerie modeling shops and strip clubs in Tampa, Bradenton, and Sarasota advertise in Nightmoves magazine available free at most of the shops that advertise in it as well as at "adult" or pornographic book shops. ~~~~I also noticed the following classified ads in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune under the heading of "adult entertainment": ~~ ~~Japan Spa/Sauna, Asian staff, next to Florida Hardware, 1 mi N. of airport on west side US41. This shop also has a display ad in the Sports section of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and the Bradenton Herald showing the address as 7918 N. Looked for street action in Sarasota twice last month. There were "ladies" for sure, but I wouldn't touch them...extremely ugly! Sarasota is really cracking down on the girls, and conducting stings at the Hampton and Days Inn hotels. The lingerie clubs are all rip-offs; don't even go near them. Best bet is the yellow pages. Until the end of 1999 I often was quite pleased with my experiences at the lingerie modeling shops in Sarasota, Florida and nearby towns. However, in December 1999 there were many arrests of girls working in these shops for solicitation for prostitution, unlawful acts in a sexually oriented business, and practicing massage without a license. See "Sting targets adult businesses" by Jennifer Sullivan in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune on December 22, 1999, page 1B. As a result, the girls working in these shops have become afraid to do much of anything, and even most of the shops that weren’t a rip-off before are rip-offs now: The girls working in them prey on your unspoken assumption that they are going to do more than they can tell you about, and no matter how much you pay, it’s very likely all you’re going to get for your money is seeing a girl dance while wearing lingerie. However, they’ll give you the same sales pitch as in the past: “The better the tip, the better the session.” Most of the time, it’s a lie. Don't pay $150 or whatever unless you can afford to waste it. If you get the right girl at the right shop, you can still get a hand job or even intercourse, but it’s a case of you pay your money and take your chances. The best strategy is probably to ask if they’ll give you a back rub or light touch body rub. Avoid using the word “massage,” since that is legally limited to people with massage licenses.
Also, be aware of the fact that each and every of the below mentioned shops that I've been to had a video camera at the entrance or in the waiting room. You can’t get in or out without being videotaped, and there may always be a videotape record of your having been to a sexually oriented business. If that concerns you, either stay away or wear a hat with a broad brim and/or sunglasses that will make you hard to identify on the videotape.

This shop had the prettiest girls of any I visited, but I got evasive answers when I asked what they do and therefore chose not to have a "session" and so can't say whether this shop is worthwhile or a typical rip-off.

I've never spent any money here and therefore can't say, but in the aforementioned December 22, 1999 Sarasota Herald-Tribune article I see two of the girls working here, ages 20 and 22, were arrested in December 1999. I've stopped here to look a few times. Sometimes you'll find an attractive woman here, and other times you won't.
Naughty Lady Modeling, 4515 Tamiami Trail (Route 41), Sarasota - This shop is CLOSED, permanently. Rumor has it there were "busts" for prostitution there, "and they went after the owner." The police must have had better luck here than I did, i.e., picked a different girl.
Roman Holiday Spa, 303 S. Tamiami Trail (Route 41), Sarasota, 4 Bay Plaza shopping center, Suite H, (941) 484-4690. According to the aforementioned December 22, 1999 Sarasota Herald-Tribune article, two of the girls working here, ages 18 and 21, were arrested, so maybe this shop is worth a try - or maybe the girls here are now too paranoid.~~
