Woman found dead Monday was a murder victim--late December, 2005
DAYTONA BEACH -- Police said today that the 45-year-old woman found dead Monday in an alley off of North Beach Street was a murder victim. Daytona Beach police have not released the woman's name but said she had been shot about 48 hours before her body was found. Residents and nearby business owners say the area is rife with prostitution and drug activity.
The body, found in the 700 block of North Beach Street three blocks from Ridgewood Avenue, was reported to police shortly before 3:30 p.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Al Tolley.
""You treat every death scene as a homicide until proven differently," Tolley said.
A customer stopping by BAC Imported Car Parts and Tools at 705 N. Beach St. found the business closed, then walked to the side of the building where he saw the body, police said.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy today and investigators will return to the area to see if there is additional evidence, Tolley said.
One woman, who lives in the area and asked not to be identified, said she heard what she thought were gunshots that morning. Other residents thought the sounds were firecrackers.
Bill xxx, who owns Chubby's Sports Pub across the street from where the body was found, said drugs and prostitution trickle into the area from Ridgewood Avenue.
"With the problems we have in this area, it doesn't surprise me at all," he said of the dead body.
Prostitutes walk the streets every night from Tanglewood Street to Ridgewood Avenue, he said, often looking for ways to get crack.
"No matter how hard the police crack down," he said, "it's still here."
Deirdre xxx, who works at Chubby's, said, "It makes me nervous to walk around."
Richard xxx, who lives in an apartment above Chubby's, said he often sees homeless people and prostitutes go into the 3-foot-wide passage between the buildings at night.
The xxx family, who came out of their nearby mobile home when they saw police, said they have gotten new locks and a guard dog to protect themselves.
"We are very concerned," Valerie xxx said, "because we have kids around here."

The Intel listed is almost a year out of date. Consider this a confession more than a mere street report. I have lived in the area my whole life and been a "hobbyist" of street sex for almost 10 years now (and Im not that old). I work in delivery services and I travel throughout Daytona Beach, 7 days a week in the early morning hours and I have a large route which runs nearly 35 miles per day. My point is that I am quite knowledgeable about such matters.
First before I start my ongoing intel reports for the area, let me first review with some of you the basics that apparently from reading the newspapers only I am aware. I say that because in nearly 10 years, and averaging 1 girl a week, I have never been arrested. I have however been ticketed for suspicion of assignation or other minor offenses meant to scare me off the street. It has'nt worked for long periods of time! So, when picking up girls, know the area and drive it a while in the morning, afternoon, and night and see who is out. See what the cops are doing, what traffic is like, what streets have good lighting and bad lighting and whose neighbors care and dont care what your doing.
Second, have a backup destination in mind when crusing. When a cop starts to tail you, break off slowly and head for a 7-Eleven or gas station, restaruant, etc. Make it look like you were just on your way there with a slight detour.
Third, know what you want. Don't pick up a 45 year old hag when you want an 18 year old runaway. Both are out there in great force but you just have to be patient.
Fourth, street action is for serious competitors. If you have the money and its just a passive interest, stick to the escorts. Hookers are for the serious hunters for all time.
Fifth, have a place to go in mind for each area. Don't let the girls take you where they know is a good place. It may be a trap and I dont mean cops. You can say that I travel a lot and I love visiting central Florida. Daytona beach is a special place for me since I spent 5 years of my life there.
