Salinas is a bit south of Santa Cruz, near Monterey. An undercover sting there in Salinas resulted in the arrests of five women, ages 23, 46, 43, 40, 49. The sting operation took place on Griffin, Rianda and Soledad streets shortly after 6 PM. Three of the women were alleged to be violating probation, the other two alleged to be violating parole. The streets of Santa Cruz have not been the same recently. We are in 2003 and it seems that the good denizens of Santa Cruz have finally rid their town of that annoying little pest called prostitution. The street scene in Santa Cruz is pretty minimal these days. However, when it picks up, I have found there to be an unusual mix of girls there. Some nights there are only a few older woman who are well past their prime. On other rarer occasions, I have found some very young and pretty girls. For this reason it is difficult to give an average. I would say it is generally on the lower side of attractive though.

Santa Cruz has a small area where the street girls work. It is bordered by Ocean, Broadway and San Lorenzo Avenues. They sometimes can be found walking up and down Ocean Avenue too. For the most part, they can be found on Barson or Broadway.
