There were plenty of them and some of them were even attractive, but they were expensive and fucked with all the passion and expertise of Mother Theresa (my apologies to those Catholics out there). They were invariably bitter and nasty, not to mention dangerous. On the other hand, in Oakland, probably because of the crack epidemic at the time, you could get a remarkably good bareback blowjob for $20 including swallowing. The only thing you had to watch out for was getting carjacked. At this point, all those girls have either died or moved on.
The other thing that's going on is that the cops in California are cracking down on street prostitution big time.
