Tijuana is a ""different "" place to say the least. naturally, there are 2 price schedules - Mexicano and Gringo - but the lower schedule is virtually ALWAYS available. I tend to prefer the Zona Norte (north of Calle premeire - no I can't spell in Espanol) and going about 2 blocks north and 2 blocks west of Constitution. The old clubs - Chicago, Adelita, Molino Rojo - are in this area. Women standing by the edge of the sidewalks. Quanto? is ""how much"". They seem to start at $20 and go down (grin) from there. Mexican price is actually 50 pesos (about $5 at the current (11/98) rate of exchange. So be a nice boy and offer 80p (plan on getting a quickie room for $2 or 3 - 20 minutes) Remember, though, these girls have low, low prices, but make it up in volume - translated - ""don't expect anything tight) I barely speak Spanish but to deal with most of the street girls, you at least need to know how to count. ""Muy cara"" (pronounced ""mooie car ah"" - very expensive) gets the negotiation going fast. As to a ""problem"" - TJ can be a bit dangerous (at least your first or second time there) Personally, I get a room for the night (seems to be hovering at about $15 for something relatively clean, more for a better room) so that I can wander. If you want to drink beer, try the Caghuama (it's a liter bottle) of Tecate or Pacifico. Good strip shows are available at Perla Negra (Black Pearl) girls drinks 32p, your beer (the big one) 25p (and a tip to the waiter of a couple of p helps, too) Also try Guadalahara la Noche after 6 or so (Perla starts about 3) You could go to the south end of revolution to Bambi's or one of the others there, but except for entertainment, I don't care much for the place. The waiters are so damned pushy beer is $3 (small bottle) and the women think they are the best thing since flat tortillas. For personal reasons (bad knee), I don't go to the second story places. At all costs avoid ""el Zorro"" guaranteed 100% travesti show (built like you and me - if I want to see a dick, I just have to look down) Buy your liquor in a grocery store (about 15% less than the liquor stores and they have ""Especiales"", too) Better tequila costs about $10 and the stores will let you pay either way, or mixed currency - even coins, particularly quarters. August 1998 - I visited several city in Mexico, like Tijuana and Nueveo
Laredo and a few other border towns off the Texas border. No comparison,
TJ is superior. The girls are prettier, the prices are as competitive ($30-
$70) and they give you a good time. I hit many bars in TJ in the ""boys
town section called red something or other. If you need directions ask
the cab driver to take you to Adelitas or Chicago. And enjoy! (Review # 588)
