I've lived here for a while and have recently had the pleasure of doing some traveling. I hope I can submit some 'off-the-beaten' path reviews of places where not everyone might go.
So, welcome to Matsumoto, tourist haven, and home to a couple of national treasures.
And of course some massage parlours.
Unfortunately, I would say that these are not national treasures.
Japan's sex industry is enormous but it's difficult to get any action, particularly if you struggle with the language. As many other users have commented, the key is to BE NICE. Japanese men are the 'ground and pound' kind of guys, and they are not particularly nice when doing it. If you like it rough, then be nice at first, and ease your way in. Being nice is the key in Japan. You will probably get whatever you want.
Onto the massage parlors in Matsumoto.
There are a flood of them near the station (this is normal in Japan). There will be 'salesmen/women' nearby, and they will most definitely approach you saying 'massaji? massaji?'. They will then quote the prices.
Most of the sales reps have some level of English, but knowledge of numbers in Japanese.
Anyway, I threw them when I said I wanted to do 'nagai jikan' - meaning a long time. (I wanted 2 hours). They claimed that 1 hour would be enough 'Number One' - the woman said.
Well. Ok then.
The price was 6000 yen for 40 minutes. For which you would get a shower, massage, and sex. My 2 hours cost me 23,000 yen. For which I got the above and the ability to cum in her mouth.
There was very little emphasis on the massage.
The girl was Korean (I recognized the language). She was 25 years old. For an Asian girl I would rate her as a 7, but a 7 for an Asian girl would be closer to a 9 in England, my home country. The Matsumoto massage parlours are a much of a muchness. They are not bad, but they are not offering anything spectacular. Still, it's safer than Tokyo, you're not going to get ripped off, and you can be sure that the girls will be less 'used' than in Tokyo.
For what it's worth, I found the longer it went on the better it got, so if you've got the money, and you are nice, then the girls at the massage parlours are worth it. If you want to get what you want, then you should work out how to say it in Japanese, because then you have a better chance of getting a good time. Or you could just direct the girl. For me, it started off pretty badly (probably because she was expecting me to cum in about 5 minutes) - but once she realised that wasn't an option, she got the idea.
Matsumoto is 2 and a half hours on the train from Shinjuku station. Use Platform 9 from Shinjuku.
