  I live in London and agree Soho should be avoided. It's seedy and can be dangerous. On no account go into the clubs with a girl outside inviting you in to see a "sexy show" or whatever for a fiver; you will be ripped off.
  
  My favorite place is "The Griffin" pub at Clerkenwell (near junction of Clerkenwell Road and Gray's Inn Road) - a cab driver or the northbound 38 bus from Soho will take you there. Don't be put off by the outside appearance nor the decor inside - neither do the place justice!
  
  There's no entrance charge and drinks are only slightly above normal pub prices. There is a strip show every 10-15 minutes. The girls come round before their show with a beer mug and you are expected to give them at least one pound. If you don't then the nice bouncer, who greeted you on the way in, will be very happy to give you some coaching in strip-pub etiquette. Private dances cost 15 pounds.
  
  The girls vary from night to night and are generally very high standard.
  
  A couple of house rules - don't touch and don't take photos. Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding, I recommend you turn your phone off and put it away if it has a camera - they don't work too well after a bouncer has "examined" it!
  
  There is another pub called "Browns" owned by the same people near Old Street, but for me it never seems to have quite such a good atmosphere as the Griffin. (Review # 22419)
