It seems that some Dominican girls have arrived in Costa Rica to pedal their

Overall, things are getting expensive in Costa Rica. I've been there

April, 1999 Everything I read on the ""Guide"" about San Jose was true. I was there last year and hit some of the hot places but also missed some excellent spots. We made reservations with Sport ""F"" Tours to fly on Lacsa from Miami.

flew down to San Jose on Delta.
We were met at the airport by a Costa Rican guy who said he was ""Tico"". That
is what we called him until we got to the Hotel El Presidente. The hotel is
right downtown and very nice. We were told it had been remodeled recently.
The check-in clerk asked us if we wanted ""ticas"". He actually said ""chicas""
We told him we already were with Tico. He laughed and explained that men in
Costa Rica are called Ticos and the girls are Ticas. Girls are call ""chicas""
as well.
We told him that Tico who turned out to be Luis Alberto had us set up with
a tour of the local hot spots. It was part of our package tour. None of the
three of us speak very much Spanish. We figured a bilingual guide from an
agency with good reference would not lead us too far astray. Hell they accept
Visa and American Express so they must be pretty well set up.
We parked in the parking lot of the Casino Colonial. None of us are much into
gambling so we told Luis that we ought get in the van an find some other place
to look for chicas. He said that he only came there for the free parking and
security. The Casino is beautiful. We came back later for something to eat. They
are open 24/365. There are lots of casino types but little to interest a pussy
hound.
We went across the street to Roger's Bar. Everyone seemed to know Luis. The
crowd was mainly Gringos. There were three tica knock outs talking to older Gringos.
We found out later one was the most notorious hooker in San Jose. She was with
her American boyfriend. His name is Joe. She and her nine sisters work the area
with a vengeance. They are known as Las Hermanas Vegas. (The Vegas Sisters)
Most Bars and clubs like the Key Largo, Del Rey will not permit them on their
premises because of previous problems. They are a little too aggressive even for
San Jose.
Roger's Bar is just that an oval bar without much happening even on a Saturday
night at 11:15PM. We went across the street to the side entrance of the Hotel
Del Rey Blue Marlin Bar. What a difference and what a surprise. None of
us had ever seen anything like what we were seeing.
Seated at the serpentine bar that seems to go forever were an assortment of
characters that were hard to imagine. The men were most impressionable at first.
It took time to realize what we were seeing. Maybe fifty guys sitting at the
slurping cerveza (beer) while about 100 7,8,9 &10's were massaging their backs,
shoulders and any other part that the girls thought might arouse someone to
respond to their mating calls.
For a Gringo ( an American and not a derogatory term) to see this much sexual
aggression in one minute kind of over powers the idea of sexual availability
one could ever imagine.
All three of us were approached immediately. Smiles flashing and eye lashes
batting one could hardly contain the desire to touch. Touching is okay we soon
realized. Not too personal or invasive but caresses were welcomed and responded
to with pleasing smile. They all wanted to know if we spoke Spanish. Their reply
was ""que lastima"" when we said 'no not really"". Then they responded in a
different way that seemed to wipe out the need for a profound discussion about
anything but the matters at hand.
My buddies were ready to deal. They were reminded that they already had
girls lined up at a gentlemen's club when we came back from fishing. Luis
said whatever the girls asked for would be triple what they would go back to the
hotel for.
Exactly! They asked for $100. Ten thousand colones is about $33.00. That was the
deal our buddy from Atlanta went for. I can't blame him because the girl
was a 9.9999. She had a smile, face and red hair to croak for. He told later that
she made him very happy. He makes twice what he paid an hour making false teeth in
Georgia. Not exactly sharing the wealth. No use spoiling the help.
Each one of us have an idea what makes an attractive women. My buddy from
Fort Lauderdale had a hard time adjusting to the fact that the girls he
was encountering were after him and not like in the clubs and bars that he
frequents at home. Instead of meeting a girl, calling her, making dinner
dates and trying to make a score all he had to do is to offer a small
amount of money to a gorgeous women and she was his for a little while.
Apparently, most Gringos think the same way. Several guys were wide mouthed
and unbelieving at what was available. We had a hard time leaving to go
to the next locale. It is a seedy titty bar called ""su Escorial"". The best thing
one can say about this place is that the waitresses are cute and friendly.
They all ask for the customer to buy them a drink or a pack of cigarettes
or both. The lead bar tender is a pretty tall girl who speaks good English
but told us that she is married. Another cutie is Chrystal.
The dancers are from hunger. After getting a look at the ""girl?"" who plays the
music from the DJ booth one can figure why several of the dancers look so ""dikey"".
She doesn't have horns that one can see but she is a bull.
We then went to Happy Days Bar just around the corner. Not very Happy. We bugged
out after a couple of smelly 4's approached. They didn't fart but that would have
freshened the air.
Next door is the Key Largo! Everyone says it used to be better. Maybe so but it
ain't bad now. There are several shades of skin color. Color doesn't seem to matter.
They have a great live band knocking out Latin rhythms. All of the girls want to dance.
They expect you to be able to trot to the sound of Salsa, Meringue or Cumbia. Just
get up and boogie. All of the girls are going to offer you something. Don't buy high.
Make low offers and get a good deal.
On the way out of the Su Escorial I spotted a tiny chica about 4'11'. What a face and
sexy eyes. She told me that see sold ""memorias"" (souvenirs) at Key Largo. She started
work at 12:00 midnight and finished at 4:00AM.
I had a flight to Quepos at 8:10AM. I had to be at the airport 45 minutes before the flight.
That cut my time to be with her down to a thin slice. Quality is more important
than time. I met her at the gate of Key Largo and walked the short distance to Hotel El
Presidente. I offered to get a taxi
but she seemed to be on parade in front of the other girls on the street.
She wanted them to know that she had scored a fat gringo and had a pay day.
The word fantastic pales when trying to describe my experience with her. I'll
never divulge her name. I'm not in love but I have found something worth going
back for again and again.
The next day came too quickly. I was asleep every moment that we
were moving. Luis rousted us out early to catch the Sansa fight to
Quepos. Our heads were not exactly into catching fish. Somehow the
flight of 20 minutes woke us up enough to greet the manager of our
fishing boat. She is a lovely, married Tica who is all business.
Her husband is the captain of the boat. We went directly to the boat
for a fantastic day of fishing. We raised sailfish, marlin and dorados.
We screwed around and didn't follow the captain and mates instructions
and lost all but 4 fish. We finally happened on a giant school of porpoises.
They were leaping and heaving in every direction. Deep below them swam
yellowfin tuna. As soon as we put out the lures that tuna hit, we were hooked
up on two big fish.
Back at the dock we instructed the mates to take a portion of the fish to
""El Gran Escape"" restaurant. This place is run by a sweetie named Marsha.
What a way to live. An ocean front restaurant in Quepos where it is a
religion to eat the fish that one has just caught an hour or two before.
It can't get any better than that.
We were housed in a small hotel just up the mountain from the ""downtown"" of
Quepos. 3 Flags. Las Tres Banderas. US flag, Costa Rican flag, Polish flag.
The two guys who are the owners are from Poland. They were educated under
Communism. As soon as they could escape they became the most ardent capitalist
one can imagine. Chris and Andy are the owners, the waiters, bar tenders.
Chris knows every girl in town and can put you in touch with someone who
is interested in spending a romantic evening in your company.
Back in San Jose things really started to jump. Luis picked us up at the airport.
We checked into the Hotel El Presidente. It was 10:30AM. He said to us to hurry
because we were already 1/2 hour late for the opening of the hottest new
executive men's club in San Jose. Our session started at 12:10PM. Everyone
in our group was screwing around wondering if it would be better to go back
to where we had made out before. We were not sure about going to a prepackaged
deal. We had such fun two nights before we were not sure. Luis insisted. He
said, ""What can you lose since you have already paid for the day at the club"".
What great advice! The girls at the Del Rey, Su Escorial, Happy Days and Key
Largo are just a bunch of average whores in comparison to the talent at the
Puerto Verde. We stayed until 10:30PM. They close at 11:00PM. We were flying
out at 7:00AM. That required arrival at the airport at 5:00AM.
We found that we had a great time using the expert advise and protection of
our ""Tico"" buddie Luis. We had no language problems and always felt safe.
We screwed ourselves silly at a great price.
Going it solo is like screwing without a condom. Sooner or later you will
have a very bad experience with no cure.

Just back from San Jose. The best deal are the legal whore houses around town. Nice selection of pretty, non p[iushy girls. You sit down at a table in the bar and have a drink. If you see someone who interests you just wave them over. You can buy them a drink - usually about $3 _ and chat. If you like them you can go upstairs. In the places that gringos visit the cost is around $30. There are also local whorehouses where less than $10 will do the trick. If you speak a little Spanish these are great and safe. The criminals hang around the big tourist joints.
Also I can second the report on the Park hotel. It's a bit of a dump but the expatriates love it. Check out the kinky shows they throw from time to time. Hand lettered signs will announce a show which could mean naked girls and oil on the bar, eating tid bits of food off naked bodies and many more wild, raucous activities. Everything at the Park is done with low class bawdy humor. A strong endorsement.
But beware at the Del Rey Hotel. The girls in the bar want a $100 and the security guys will hit you up for $20 to get her in the elevator. My suitcase was stolen at the check-in desk when I looked away for barely a minute and security did nothing. The hotel desk would not call the police. Mysteriously the video tape on the surveillance camera didn't work! The robbery had the smell of an inside job.
Other people have gotten tipsy at the bar and been pick-pocketed in the bar or robbed in the street. The girls at the Del Rey are a rather experienced, hard lot. Expensive, some with diseases, and with lite fingers. The Del Rey staff does nothing to protect their customers. A high dollar but disreputable place. BEWARE of the DEL REY!
If you are in the downtown area near the Del Rey I suggest the Key Largo bar which is having a bit of a come back. Lot's of free lancers there and occasionally a decent band. Great atmosphere too. (Review # 530)

Just returned from my eighth trip to costa rica and had my best time yet thanks to danny,steve,george and bob the owners of the green door club1 located five minutes from downtown san jose the green door club is situated on over an acre of beautiful tropical gardens.
