I returned Cuba December 2005- January 2006 for the fourth time in 8 years. Every time is a different experience, depending of the degree of freedom that fidel allows. I think things are getting worse, because the economy seems to get lower , and people dont believe anymore to fairy tales. They just want to consumm.
The best thing to do, if some spanish spoken, is to walk around during the day in Habana Vieja, and doing connexion with any cute girl. A look, a smile, and it is very easy.
During the night it is much more difficult, cause they don go out that much anymore. If the night clubs are open , you can bring back in casa particular a girl for the night for 60-80 euros. Sometimes she lives during the night, sometimes she stays with you
The more she likes you? The hotter it will be. I ve met a Canadian guy that was here ten times , and he returned with his father but if you fall in love with one girl , and it is easy, and you want to walk around with her day and night, it will be a p roblem, because the police will control her all the time , and there is a cha nce she ends up the night in a police station, and you never know when she ll be out. If you stay with the girl ? She will ask you for some shopping? And it is a real pleasure.
Prices of restaurant are very high. There is a politic will to stop the individual tourism, because at the beginning of the opening of the country. There were a lot of couple cuban tourist, and now we were only a few. Of course , groups with married people who go to varadero are not a risk for the morality
Trinidad is beautiful Colonial City , and the police is far less present. You can do good encounters there.

According to reputable published information current as of late December, 2004, El Conejito bar in Havana is a "thinly disguised rendezvous point" for johns and hookers.A decade after an economic collapse forced thousands of young women and men into prostitution, Cuba has become something of an anomaly in Latin America: a destination for sex tourists where AIDS has yet to become an uncontrollable pandemic.

For more than a decade, the government has run an intense public-education campaign in schools and on state-owned television and radio stations, promoting the use of condoms and informing people about how H.I.V., the human immunodeficiency virus, is transmitted. The system of free primary care clinics in Cuba, a Communist country, has also led to the early detection of the virus in many people, Cuban and United Nations officials say.In the early 1990's, Cuba quarantined people with the virus, and those discovered to be infected are still required to stay three to six months in one of Cuba's 13 government AIDS sanitariums, where they receive treatment and counseling on how to survive with the virus and how to avoid passing it along. Once they leave the hospitals, the patients are closely monitored in their homes by social workers, officials say.

I just came back from Varadero, May-04-2002, Cuba is no longer cheap, it's very expensive, I was in Varadero talking to a girl offering her $20.00 us when a german toursits came along and offered her $80.00 us, I was really shocked, lots of spanish and german toursits italains are offering more they should, it's all those european that made cuba very expensive, most girls will not go below $40.00 us unless you are her last customer, so to get a girl for $20.00 dollars, expect to wait until 4 a.m. (Review # 5406)

GUANABO: As of February 2002, police everywhere, two cops on every corner, cops on beach, constantly stopping Cubans to ask for ID. COPS will not bother Gringos, but any Cuban under age 30 who talks to you will be immediately questioned. Girls are scared to death, apparently lots have been sent off for 2 yrs of prison for soliciting. No obvious action going on. You can quietly ask around or go to discos, and do OK, but not a great scene any more. VERY paranoid scene. Jinetera scene still very active in Havana, but big crackdown in beach towns. I just returned from Cuba. Habana discos Commodora and Amanacer were closed due to drugs and prostitution. The Malecon is bare. The only disco with action is Turquino above Havana Libre. There the girls demand $100 and will not negotiate below $70. They always have a girl friend who helps her in negotiations and she will take over negotiations for the chica and demand more money after belittling you for your offer. ~~ I recommend avoiding Havana and going to Gerona, a 30 minute flight to the South and visiting the Isla de Juventud (island of youth). You can rent a casa particular for $12 a night and the average tip for a short time girl is $10-12. The Italians will pay only $5 and some of the older less attractive men will pay $15. You can buy a lunch meal for $1.50. There are 4 discos in town, The Rumba or Bomba, I can't recall which, is on 39th street and cover charge is 50 cents. All these prices are in US dollars. Holguin isn't dead. You simply have to have some patience. There are usually a few girls walking around Holguin's Central park. The girls usually have a place you can rent for an hour or night. I usually pay $7 US per night for the room if you arrive after 1AM. I also recommend the Pernik Disco. I usually throw the girls $20US for the night as well. Sunday night it the best night for that. You should arrive there around 11PM. Watch your wallet. You will also need your passport in order to get in. It cost $10 US, but that gets you 10 free beer. Also note, if you are renting a house in Holguin, the owner will probably not allow girls in it if they are not your regular Cuban girlfriend. There are still lots of police and neighbors watching. Hello my friends: Let me just tell you a friendly advised. If you are going to visit Cuba what I would recommend you to do is to visit the small towns outside Havana and Varadero. Outsides this two places since they are not visited by many foreigners and girls are interest in meeting foreigners you could be with a girl ages varies from 18-up (8's-10's) for a week have as much sex as you want for 20-100 USD and this includes the gifts. She would be grateful because salary's in Cuba are extremely low for example a Medical Doctor makes between 15-20 Usd a month. If you however, decide to stay in Havana or Varadero expect to pay between 20-80 USD for one night girls are from (8-10). A really good place to start in Havana is 5 Avenida (fith avenue, this is away from the bay by the malecon street after you cross the tunnel of the Almendare River) preferably after nine in the evening. Remember to used condom because in Havana and Varadero most of these girls are infected with HIV/aids and other STD's. In the small towns girls are generally safer however used condoms. Just got back from Varadero and this place is still HOT!!!. Street prostitution is almost gone but in the local bars, it is still alive and well. Just a bit of advice: Don't hit the bar scene before 1 O'clock (they are open till 4). Most of the time they will approach you when they think it is safe to do so. They have apartments where they can go to ( please don not expect luxurious establishments for this. There are more willing girls than guys out there, and some of them look hot (10/10). Sadly enough often there are pimps around too.
Prices range from $20-$60 (including private room) but be kind try bringing a gift and you are there best friend!

Going to Cuba is the best thing I ever did. If I calculate it on a dollar per great story to tell to the boys back home, Cuba was the best investment I could of made. I stayed at the casa particular run by a woman across the street from the Indian embassy on K and 21 Street in Vedado. It cost 20 dollars a night and was private and safe. I traveled down to the clubs, the cheaper the club, the cheaper the company if you get my drift. Local clubs, bars and even in a supermarket I met women who were so eager to spend time with me. I repaid them for their enthusiasm to be with me, with meals, drinks and cab fare home. I think that maintaining my own innocence was as important to me as not exploiting the Cuban women. However, they flocked to me and to all tourists who they call Humas or Strangeros...
The Cubans are wonderful attractive, intelligent and charming people. The women are sexual, coy, playful and something that I dream about every night since I left Cuba. Talk about politics, sex, relationships and see that Cubans are smart, thoughtful and eager to find out a lot about you.
My advice is to travel to Cuba before the economic blockade of Cuba is lifted by the United States. If you do beat the lifting of the blockade, you might get to meet a Cuban who has never chatted before with an American or slept with an American. However at the rate people are flooding into Cuba, and the rate that the Cuban population is selling their soul in order to get American Dollars..... you better not hesitate.. (Review # 329)

Friends as November '98 Cuba has changed dramatically. In November Fidel gave a major anti crime speech and q1uoted from the Washington Post that Cuba was the new sex tour capitol. Since that time (it's now late April) there have been armed guards on every block of central and old Havana. Girls are being arrested for just walking with tourists. Many are in jail or in forced labor camps. In April police have even been stopping tourists cars and taking Cubanos off to jail who are riding with foreigners. there is not the slightest notion of civil liberties. My many women friends are now afraid to even sit in a cafe with me.
In the provincial capitols the situation is less hideous, but still bad. Many young Cuban women who are guilty of nothing more than being friendly are being arrested.
Much of the government rhetoric is against pimps but in Cuba their is little hard core prostitution and a lot of attractive independent girls who will go home with you. There are no houses of prostitution as in other countries.
This, sadly is a terrible time for single men to visit Cuba. things will change in time, but this crack down has gone on for six months now. My advice, try another country and in time the friendly atmosphere, great music and dance spots, wonderful beach scene, etc. will return.
but for now unless you enjoy hassles with the police Cuba is a no go.
