She said if the area was to change from industrial to residential “there can be a brothel there for time immemorial”.

He said it would be discriminatory not to support the motion.
The proposal received one objection during the advertising period.
Council officers summarised that the objection was based on the brothel being: “In close proximity will naturally be a deterrent to prospective purchasers and could be viewed as a social impediment for couples wishing to have their children grow up in a conducive family environment.”
Cr Cutri said that such an objection had no basis as property was selling well in that area of Yarraville.
The approved application allows the business to extend its operating hours as a 24-hour service seven days a week.

The business previously had a permit for no more than eight workers from 10 am to 5 am and 10 workers between 6 pm and 5 am.
