I've always liked the little outdoor sports bar in front of Tilac with its nice beers and views to get started. The neon lights in the street are better than ever giving a really cool ambience. Just got back from spending 4 nights and 5 days in Bangkok. (Oct. 25-29, 2006).
Nana Plaza (Sukumhvit Soi 5) is still the same. Rainbow 2 on the ground floor is charging 600bht for the bar fine and 1500bht for short time. At 2am when Nana closes, the action moves to across the street.
CM2 (Noveltel Hotel) is 220bht entry fee during weekdays and 550bht during weekends. I was there 3 nights in a row and the quality was pretty good. Closes at 2am.

If you still haven't found a "date" at this time, I highly recommend an after hours place called Boss. Just tell the taxi driver Boss disco and they'll know. I've been to Bangkok a few times so here's some general information, mostly about the massage parlors. I love going to the massage parlors, not just for the sex, but for the whole experience. The Thai body massage really is something unique and erotic, something I don't think you can experience anywhere else in the world. And it's convenient. One thing about Bangkok that's really improved lately is the transportation. The skytrain and the new subway are excellent, and make it fairly easy to get around, so you don't have to rely on those asshole ripoff taxi drivers. (By the way, never get into a taxi or tuk-tuk and ask him to take you to a massage parlor.) Here's some information on three massage parlors that are convenient to Sukhumvit Rd. I list the prices that I paid, but it's always a good idea to confirm the price with one of the workers before you choose a girl. Take the subway to Phetchaburi station (one stop), and go to exit number one. From the exit, walk straight out to the intersection and turn left (don't cross the street). This is Petchaburi Rd. Walk down the street for around 5 minutes or so, and soon you'll see the massage parlor on your left. It doesn't actually say "Mona Lisa" anywhere (I think they have a sign in Thai), but it's in a big cool-looking building with a parking lot, and there's a picture of the Mona Lisa out by the sidewalk. Aside from the massage parlors, the two best places to go are of course Nana Entertainment Plaza (Nana skytrain station) and Soi Cowboy (Asok skytrain station). Both are very close to Sukhumvit Rd. Don't go to Patpong looking for sex. If you go there, go as a tourist, just to look. Don't go anywhere with, or accept any offers from, the touts who will inevitably approach you, no matter how nice they seem or how good of an offer they make.

In the traditional bars, watch out for lady boys! LOOKS are deceiving! They LOOK like girls, but are boys! In some bars they will pull you in from the street by gentle force. Once you're inside, they stand close to you, feel you up, then ask you to pay the overpriced drinks of up to ten lady boys. It's a deception, a con job! Never pay for more than one girl's drink!
In the traditional bars, never leave your own drink unattended. You don't want to get distracted and drugged! You do not want to loose all your money and valuables, all of a sudden, in a far away, strange, foreign land! If you loose it all, then how do you travel all the way back to the States?

Hi guys, here is a trip report of Bangkok. was there for a week and 3 in Pattaya. See Pattaya report for that. I stay in the Nana district, so the report is for Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy.. First I will say things are slow, so the girls are up-ing the prices.. Nana Plaza is trying for 3000 baht since a long time. Soi Cowboy for 2500. There are quite a few freelancers in the parking lot of Nana Hotel at closing time. Be Carefull. The lady boys have been playing pick pocket real hard again. They will come up to you in groups of 2 or 3 and try playing with you while the other is trying to clean you out..Some of the bars have also raised bar fines. If you want to take lady out before show they are charging 1000 baht fine. Their reason is they need her for the show.. No replacement. Yeah right.. Check out Annies massage. Just down the soi from Nana Plaza on the right. Look for the opening to the side soi and go right, they will be on the end on left.. I will say it can be hit or miss there. First 2 times was great fun, 3rd time it was ok.. Like I stated in the Pattaya report. Please treat them like ladies. They are only trying to make a living.. Have Fun. (Review # 11335)
