Just wanted to give an update for Taipei for June 2007. I was there for a week. Most everything in the earlier reviews still applies. Upon arriving, I checked out the area around my downtown hotel. It's a lively city. As a foreigner, I got some stares and a few "you want young girl" solicitations.

One old lady I talked to said $6k NTD for young girl. She wrote the figure on a piece of paper. She only dropped to $4k before I walked off. I bought a local English paper and condoms at a 7-11 as recommended in an earlier review. Back at the hotel, I called a massage service listed in the newspaper. Its address was Changchun, I think, which ran by the hotel. Don't think the address makes a difference though. How much for full service? $5k. I'll call back. Discount if you decide now. $3k. OK. Later calls to other services reach the same figure.

Another request for "all night" received the quote of $20k so you may be able to negotiate $10k. Girl shows up about 30 minutes later and she is damn hot! Petite, about 5'2", maybe 19 and ample tits. She didn't rush but she was very efficient. Undresses me, undresses her, shower. On the bed, excellent BBBJ for a few minutes, then Asian cow girl to completion. She was pleasant and smiled but spoke no English. Glad I bought the condoms because she did not bring any. I should have asked for her cell phone number and angle for a return visit. Just was in Taipei with a friend living there. He told me about beetlenut girls, women selling bags of a small green fruit you bite for its red juice, a stimulant enjoyed by the locals before sex services. Most beetlenut girls will sell sex if you ask them. Don't know about their prices though.

A taxi took us to a strip under a highway ramp with several Jabba the Hut-type storefront owners who walked out to the cab. Each of them turned us away because we weren't Asian. So if you find a beetlenut girl trying to sell to you, you may be able to purchase more, but in general Westerners shouldn't expect much from the establishments.

There is one place a Westerner can go, a street called Shuang Cheng street (pronounced Shwang Chung, and when you say chung, you have to make the tone slide up through the vowel or they won't know what you are talking about. ) This area has maybe 20 different service bars, which open at 9pm. The girls usually start arriving between 9-10pm. And as we had been there a few times, we learned that the girls at many of these places are reluctant to consider leaving early on in the evening, but you can get a lot more interest if you show up around 12:30am

If you're looking for sex, beware some bars only want to sell overpriced drinks to you as I discovered with the dreaded 'Mango Bar' the bar girl Kathy of which tried to raise the drink prices from the menu when she discovered I was going to check out another bar. Don't know what to tell you, I just stuck to my guns and paid the menu price and left. Right on the corner splitting the main drag (where most taxis will deposit you) there are some places where the girls will try to get your attention and invite you in. You should know the prices last mentioned on this forum are out of date.

Prices are no longer between 4500-5000 New Taiwan dollars, they are more like around $NT6000, and that is after two drinks and a little haggling. And pretty much every girl I took during my stay expected to be taken back to a hotel room or apartment, unlike other places in Asia where they will service you on the premises. So be prepared.

If you have time and money to burn, head down to The Zone in the north of the city. Some of the bars advertise in the free tourist map available at the airport so you will have no trouble finding the area. You will find a small street which contains most of the hostess bars. Bar fee is expensive - $3500NT which is around $100US. The girls will then expect $5000NT - $6000NT to come back to your room for sex. Make sure you know what you expect from them before you pay the money. I took a real cracker aged 19 out for a meal and to a disco, we had a great time and when it came to the crunch she said she had to go home.

Meilan Bar has a bunch of women who look a bit old and used. K9 has a couple of young and pretty ones, as do Miami Bar and Tokyo Bar. You will also be expected to buy yourself a drink and the girls a couple of drinks before the mamasan will let you take her out. Your beer will only cost $100Nt but ladies drinks are $400 and they drink them fast. So not a cheap night out.
