I have explored the night life in Manila, Puerto Galera, Cebu, Bacolod, Boracay, Angeles and Baguio. Baguio has not been covered by others reports. I spent a couple hours with three taxi drivers (two of whom appeared to know the sex-scene well) looking for places. Both taxi drivers took me to an area of the city called Bihon (sp?), where we found several karaoke bars (Skyrise Hotel, Jeck's Club and others). These karaoke bars had 10-20 hostesses but they were not for take-out (easiest is to ask if they have a barfine). Sabang Beach, just outside Puerto Galera, is a major destination for mostly western and a few Asian tourists, mostly for diving. It is 1.5-3 hrs by taxi/bus from Manila, plus a 45-90min ride by boat (fastcat or outrigger). I found Sabang itself a bit claustrophobic, due to the narrow alley which serves as the main street along the beach. There are 15 or so open air bars with a few girls each. Great site! Keep up the good work.~~~~Butuan is a quiet little place but like most Asian towns does have a nightlife if you know where to look. During my brief stay I managed to find three very seedy strip joints on or just off the town's main road (near Shakey's Pizza). Bar fine was ridiculous given the location (1,000+ pesos) and the girls had seen better days. Also found two Karaoke's, one again on the main road whose name escapes me (situated in a small hotel) and the other called Emmanuel, located just on the way out of town. Ask any taxi driver. Emmanuel had by far the best selection (about 30 girls ranging from 4-9) but like most places in the Philippines it is necessary to negotiate with the girl directly and have her join you later unless you want to pay outrageous bar fines. Going rate varied from 500-1,000 pesos all night. Alternatively, ask your driver to take you to the 'dormitories'. Yes, dormitories. These are basically small take out joints run out of private houses with a couple of 'boarders' - usually technical school students. Rates again vary from 1,000-1,500 pesos to the Mamasan plus tip. Girls stay all night and are thrilled to service foreigners, as most have never even seen one. MAKATI: City Overview:
~~This is the business district of the Philippines. This is the place for all the high-class hotels, high-end shopping malls (Galleria, SM, Robinson’s) and the best cinema and clubs, and restaurants. Nothing is cheap here. The girls are better than average (usually) and the atmosphere is much more sophisticated. The streets are considerably safer. However, the prices for girls are sky high.
The main action is on P. Burgos St. Several little clubs run along here. Geronimos, Magumbos, Banditos are ok clubs. Magumbos was sort of pushy and high priced. They don’t allow too much browsing or sitting back to scope things out. Prices are high – around P150 for a drink, P500 for a ladies drink, bar fine just went up to P2000. These clubs are all owned by the same person.
Geronimos has girls wearing the American Indian - Old West theme. Kind of cute girls. Sometimes they will pull you up and dance with you. If you want the best girls, buy Mamasan a drink. She’ll set you up with a nice selection to choose from. The prices are the same as Magumbos and Banditos. I like the atmosphere of the place. It is much more easy-going.
Bottoms has probably the best girls in Makati, but your gonna pay for it. The club is dark and the service seemed very professional. You will be surrounded bar staff the minute you walk through the door. The sound system is excellent – being a musician I’m very keen to that. There aren’t as many girls as other clubs though. However, all of them are perfect little gems! Drinks are P150 and ladies drinks run P500 like usual. There is currently a two drink minimum for both, so you pay for two when you buy your first one. (Yes – P1000 for her just to sit on your lap and chat with you.) Barfines run P2500. Tips are another P2500.
It’s a nice place for sure, but it carries a hefty price tag. You could easily blow $100 or $200 (US) for just one girl.
Rogues down the street is another disco with better than average girls. It’s one of my favorite places. Nice girls, good music, clean place. Price are more in line with most other Makati discos. This place was raided on night apparently because girls were getting completely undressed on stage. It was shut down the following evening, but was opened up again after that.
Jools is probably the biggest Disco in Makati, or even Manila. It is a well managed place with an air of sophistication. The girls are very nice, and very expensive. There are two levels of entertainment, with a large stage on each floor. Live bands play on the weekends. Dimples is another club along the Burgos strip. It has average girls with barfines starting at P1500. The place is really dark and the service is pushy here. Nothing particularly bad, but nothing special either. Some girls were cuter than others. A drink is P100 and a ladies drink is the usual P450.
Rascals has better looking women, but it is a small disco with a small stage. Low pressure place. Easy to watch the girls dance and drink a San Miguel or two in peace without someone badgering you. The girls here really caught my fancy for looking good. P100 for a drink, and P450 for a ladies drink. P1500 for the barfine.
Ivory is where the really young girls are. The nick-name for this place is playskool. If it’s your thing, hey, it’s here. Its an average place with a decent atmosphere. Drink prices are in line with rest of Makati, but barfines start at P2000.
Down Kaalayan St. are a couple of good clubs worth visiting. The old Blue Velvet Club which is periodically closed down was open in June of 2000. This is overtop the Galleon Restaurant.
Blue Velvet’s claim to fame is “the best blowjob in Manila.” The joke I heard while I was sitting at the bar was “the girls have to wash the microphone before they sing.” Apparently all of these girls are specially trained in giving blowjobs.
Its an ok place. Most of the girls will sing Karaoke, which is sort of fun to watch. Drink prices were P150, and a ladies drink was P450. Barfines were P2000, with tips running about the same. Average looking girls. Some were better than others. The staff was sort of pushy, introducing another girl to me every couple of minutes.
Nightwatch Cabaret has a very good floor show. Very nice looking ladies (some very young) will strip nude while dancing. Drinks are P100, and entrance fee is P300. The girls are very beautiful here, some of the best in the Philippines. All are slender with really cute faces and nice shapely bodies – and they really know how to move to turn you on! They go through different costumes as the night goes on. I’m not sure of the ladies drink price or the barfines here. Should be in line with rest of Makati.
The Galleon Restaurant on Kaalayan St. (Below Blue Velvet) has a live band with dancing girls in cute Sailor Suit uniforms. A ladies drink is only P250, and San Miguel is P100. This is a great place to just meet a nice girl. The girls are just there for entertainment. You can meet one, chat with her and ask her to have breakfast with you when they close. Or, if you want to leave early, you have to pay P500 to the bartender to cover her. Girls from here are very willing to take care of you. They are looking for a husband, and it’s a good place to meet nice girls.
On Makati Ave. near the Wendy’s is the old Imperial Bath House. It’s a very good massage parlor with very good looking girls. A massage runs for P1000, but extra services run another P1500 to P2000 (negotiable) The massage itself is easily worth the P1000. About twenty-five girls line up behind a plate glass wall, and you pick which one you like. A girl will escort you back to your room while your selected masseuse prepares herself. The girl will offer you a complimentary drink, then tell you to take off all of your clothing. She will bring you a towel along with your drink. A minute later the massage girl comes in, undresses herself and begins the massage.
In front of the Peninsula Manila Hotel (look for the illuminated fountains) at the corner of Makati and Ayala St. are some street girls. You can try your luck here, but they are unlicensed freelancers who don’t get the weekly check-up and blood tests licensed girls do. You can get a girl for around P800 or less. Some of the girls may be cute too. (Most of them aren’t.)
During the daylight hours, Makati makes a nice stomping ground for meeting girls who work at the department stores. Because store owners can select there employees based on there appearance, these girls will all be really hot looking (and always so, so nice!) You have to play the game right to get them. You have to act like your shopping for a watch of a pair swim trunks or something. Let her know you’re new to the Philippines and ask her to show you around. You can even slip her a calling card or P100 bill with your Hotel and room telephone number on it. (Be discreet about this – other employees will gossip and make fun of her if they catch this.) Do whatever works best for you to get her to meet you after her shift is over. Then buy her a nice dinner, watch a movie, have a few drinks at a bar near your hotel, invite her up to your room --- you get the picture!

QUEZON CITY: The most well known massage parlor around Manila is the Maalikaya Health Club. It is a huge, multi-level complex, with different levels of service on each floor. The first floor will arrange a girl selected by the staff. Most of these girls on this floor are average looking, but some are less than average. The rates start at P500 for the massage. If you go to the second floor, you can pick your own girl from behind a glass wall. All these girls are better than average for looks, and are really cute. Rates for this level of service start at P1500. I’ve never been to the third floor yet, so I can’t report about that. Once you pick a girl, you are led to a private massage room by a lady attendant. She offers you a drink (juice, soda, mineral water) and then tells you to take off your clothes. Extra services run between P1000 to P1500, it depends on the girl and how you negotiate with her.
Happy Sauna is another good massage parlor in Quezon city. It’s not as fancy as Maalikaya Health Club, but the girls are very nice, and the rates are much cheaper. One hour massage in a private room is just P500. Extra services run about P500-P1000, depending on what you want.
The seedy Sauna Parlor is really inexpensive. The girls run about P200 for the massage and you can get extra service for another P400 or P500. The girls are average looking at best. Some of them are older or heavy. Massage rooms are very simple and small. The massage table I laid out on wasn’t the most comfortable. MANILA
City Overview: This is the Capitol of the Philippines. It is broken up into several districts including Paraňaque, Pasay, Makati, Ermita, Intramuros, and Quezon City. This section will deal with the three districts: Pasay, Ermita and Paranaque.
Manila is very noisy, crowded and hectic. I don’t find the city indicative of the Philippines in general. It is does not make for a good first impression. It can be a bit dangerous in some spots, and there are many pick-pockets (Jeepneys and buses). In spite of this, the sex trade is alive and well throughout the city, and is a very good place for gentlemen to hire “hospitality girls.”
The whole place comes alive between the hours of 8pm till 2pm, and there are numerous discos, bars and massage parlors for gentlemen to visit.
PARANAQUE: This is the district surrounding the International and domestic airport. Along Quirino Avenue (runs between Roxas and Domestic Airport Road) between Sunset Dr. and Tomas Claudio Street is the Little China Disco. (The name has changed several times over the years) It is a small club with one stage. Girls are average to better quality. Barfine is P1000. Drinks are P80, or P450 for a ladies drink.
Along Airport Road between Roxas and Quirino Ave are a line of Karaoke Bars, small discos and nightclubs. Avoid the Karaoke bars. They are there just to rip you off. You can meet a girl or two in almost any of the places, but the scene is dominated by three clubs. The whole area is lit up with bright neon lights. It makes for an OK spot for warming up.
PASAY: Heading North up Roxas Boulevard you pass into Pasay. This is where most of the inexpensive action is. Several Clubs are along Roxas boulevard – Miami Club, Pussy Cat, Tokyo Girls and Casino Club are reasonable options. Barfines sit at P1500. Drinks are P150, Ladies drink is P450.
Miami Club had the best girls for my taste, although the place seemed kind of dingy. The service wasn’t very nice either. Casino and Pussy Cat had average girls. The place was a bit more pleasant.
Narita Massage, which is adjacent to the Miami Club offers a full service massage. You pick out a girl from behind a glass wall and she takes you to your private room. P1000 plus tip.
On EDSA near Roxas (across from the Heritage Hotel) is the EDSA Entertainment Complex. Six big discos all under one roof. Of course the famous Firehouse is there. There is also the Cotton Club and Axions.
Girls here will range from excellent to average. Barfines run at P1000, and the tip is usually around P1500. Drinks are P80 or P150 for mixed. Ladies drinks are P450. All of the discos require you to buy at least one drink.
This is one of the most well known places in Manila for discos. Tons and tons of Japanese visit here in large groups, and often times they will buy up a group of twenty or more of the best girls in a club – sometimes for more than one night. My advice is to go early in the evening (before 9pm) and pick out a girl to be sure you get what you want.
Once again, there a string of Karaoke bars adjacent to this complex. They are usually packed with Japanese. They are very expensive and I strongly discourage patronage. It’s just a big rip-off!
High-class hotels like the Hyatt Regency offer a massage service for their guests. The price runs from about P500 on up. Just make arrangements at the front desk or ask the room boy when he carries your luggage in. The girl will come up and ask you to take all of your clothes off. She will then massage you with oil or talc. While you are being massaged, or while you are undressing, invite her to take off some of her clothes. (Tell her it will make you feel more relaxed if she’s naked too.) Hand jobs start around P500 and full service is negotiable. Do not accept the first price she offers. (P1500-P2000+) She’ll come down at least P500. If you have a long flight and you want to catch up on sleep, this is a great way to start your trip.
Ermita: This is the old sex district from years ago. Most of the action had headed south to all of the bars in Pasay. There are a few music lounges and ladies dorms though.
The Red Door Lounge (Old King’s Cross) near UN Ave. on Mabini St. has average girls for P1000. No additional tip is necessary, as this is really the barfine and tip combined. Drinks are P80 and ladies drinks are only P350. About ten or fifteen girls will sit at the bar or the benches. Some are older (thirties) while most are young. They are of average quality, although a few will stick out as better than average.
The Lakay Lounge on J. Bocobo St. one block up has the same owner. It’s a similiar lounge with girls of the same quality as the Red Door lounge. The prices for drinks are the same, but the Mamasan is a lot more pushy and tries to make you buy lots of drinks or two at a time, and you have to haggle with her to get the barfine to P1000. She’ll start at P1500 or P1800.
If you stand in front of the open air night clubs along Mabini St. there are several touts who will approach you and recommend a ladies dorm. There are several in this district. You will be sat down in a comfortable chair in large room lined with a plush wrap-around sofa. Some 15 or twenty girls will stream out of the back room and sit on the sofa. You simply pick out what you like. (Of course, if nothing catches your fancy, just take a walk.) They fees range from between P2500 to P4000 for all night. You can get away with P1500 for a short time, but they will not let her go out with you. Instead, you will be led to a small, simple room for about 90 mins. They will charge an additional P500 or P600 for the room fee.
Street Action can be had easily had just by walking in almost any fast food place like a McDonald’s, Jolibees, Dunkin Donuts etc. Just hang out in for ten minutes and buy yourself a drink. Girls will approach you and ask if you want a girl. Actually, she’s working for a dorm. Say your not interested, and she’ll walk away. Keep your eyes on her, and she’ll usually go back to a table with four or five other girls. You can approach these girls and chat with them. If you like one, buy her a drink, take her to another table, and chat it up with her. Get her to come back with you to you hotel room. Sometimes she’ll need a little persuasion. Sometimes you may have to take her out to a movie. You can always tell her you want her to show you around Manila on your dime. Tell her anything to get her in a cab alone with you. While you’re out, make up an excuse to go back to your hotel, and ask her casually to just come up for a minute with you. Some girls may want a few pesos (P500, let’s say) for any service.

Batangas City (100km south of Manila and the ferry terminal for Puerto Galera) has many girlie bars and clubs, but don't go there expecting to pick up a girl and take her back to your hotel - most of them won't do that. A cuddle at your table whilst you buy her a drink is about as much as you are likely to get. With that in mind, you might get lucky at TNF, Troupers, or Taverna Queen. I was in the Philippines in spring 2000 and spent most of my 3 week stay in Davao, Mindanao. It is the 3rd largest city in the country. Though not as wild as some of the other cities in the PI, it nonetheless did provide fun in the evenings and weekends while I wasn't working for my employer.
Stayed at the Mt. Apo View Hotel downtown and within walking distance of what I needed to do basically. I walked into Hisari's KTV Karaoke bar half a block down the street. The apollo Club go go bar was one other place I did during my stay. The girls were very uninspiring. Did get my peso cover charge money's worth though. I used the Lonely Planet guide to travel on my own throughout Cebu Butuan and Cagayan de oro. You would be best advised if you read the other reports to go it alone even to Zamboanga City. Before hand have a few pen pals before you use the nightlife if you know what I mean. You always have a guide during the day but you have great adventure at night and it is extremely safe. The last stop is Zamboanga and finding love in Zamboanga (Review # 663)
