Police in the southern Chinese city of Guangzho arrested 29 people in connection with an Internet prostitution site that documented call girls in 20 Chinese provinces and regions. The site called "playchina" or "xiyouzhongguoll" which had 15,700 registered users, has also been shut down, according to the Information Times. After police discovered the site in October, a two month investigation resulted in the arrest of 29 domestic webmasters involved with the site which was run from an overseas server. Users of the website were given detailed information on call girls throughout China with over 65,000 photos posted on the site, it said. After downloading the entire site's contents, investigators found themselves with a one-meter (one yard) high stack of printouts. In an Internet clean up campaign that began last June, Chinese police have shut down nearly 1,300 websites deemed to be spreading harmful information including pornography. The number of Internet users in China will hit 134 million by the end of 2005, consolidating its position as the second largest market in the world after the United States.

I have been to Hong Kong and the Mainland four times in the last three years. Every time and every city had plenty of action.

Go to the Corner Jazz Bar (a short distance off Minjiang Lu and Fuzhou Lu) on a Friday night or Saturday night and you will find a shit load of hot young Chinese chicks (and horny foreign men) who are there looking to meet Western men/money. This is the bar where everyone in Qingdao knows has the most number of Western patrons (the manager Colin is from Misissippi (spelling?)) so many Chinese go there for free English lessons and/or to try to sponge off Westerners. If you are young and/or good looking you can strike up a conversation with a girl no problem. But don't expect to score on the first night. Many Chinese girls like to consider themselves consevative and they get turned off by the stereotypical Western men who are only interested in sex.

I heard of one girl who wouldn't go to bed with this tall handsome young guy on the first night but said she would on the second night. Around the Jazz Bar is where most of Qingdao's bars are located (just have to ask patrons for such bars as the Banana Bar etc).
