- Phuentsholing Street Action Dated Added: Sat Jun 12 2004 Submitted by: Helping The Hobbyist Community
There has never been a post about the entire nation of Bhutan but, by dumb luck, I will be the one to bust the cherry. Information is apparently about a year old. The Phuentsholing police have charged five prostitutes and three pimps in the dungkhag court. They were all from India, arrested in two hotels in the lower market after a surprise raid. Policeman in civilian dress caught them "red handed." The lower market area is known as Deki Line and houses many bars which thrive on prostitution. The prostitutes charge anything between Nu 150 to Nu 200. Hotel managers and waiters double as pimps. Sentencing for the accused could be between one month to three years or equivalent fines.
