'Luxury hotel' really a brothel

Pretoria - A dancing pole is one of the clues that led police to find that an establishment in Pretoria was not a guesthouse, but a brothel.
The Ambassador Hotel in Church Street, Pretoria, turned out not to be an upmarket guesthouse as stated on the liquor licence, but a brothel, as the neighbours suggested.
The assets forfeiture unit of the national prosecuting authority froze the "hotel's" assets last week after obtaining an urgent interdict in the Pretoria High Court.
Court documents showed that police started investigating the "hotel" after local residents and the French embassy, which is situated next door, filed complaints with police.
Two officers were sent to investigate the hotel's business.
Court documents explained that the men had to determine whether prostitutes were using the rooms. They had to pose as clients and paid two prostitutes R400 each for services to be rendered.
The prostitutes were arrested when they entered the rooms.
The documents before the court claimed that there was a dancing pole in the bar, boxes of condoms in the rooms and freely available adult movies.
The owner apparently obtained a liquor license by claiming the establishment was a luxury guesthouse.
The court documents said the "hotel" belonged to xxxxxx, who allegedly regularly entertained his friends at the establishment.
