- Windhoek Street Action Dated Added: Mon Sep 03 2001 Submitted by:
Windhoek is a relatively small town, and all of the center is well walkable. I was there for a few weeks early 1999, so maybe things changed a bit. To get your bearings, obtain the Shell road map, for something as little as $10 nam. Most visitors will probably stay in the centers' Kalahari Sands, but actually this isn’t so good if you plan on taking a girl with you. Better is one of the smaller pensions just outside the centre, such as pension Cela. They also do not allow visitors, but the guards can be easily "persuaded" to let them in.~~Street action at night is located around the crossing of Stubel and Peter Muller Strasse. However, the place is dark and the quality not too high. If you want GOOD action, try it the way it works all over Africa. Chat up a girl in a disco, restaurant or even just on the street. Or go to the outskirts. A good place to start is Khomasdal. Ask the taxidriver to bring you to a shopping centre, and you have hit jackpot. Just hang around, and you have girls all over you. Don't go to Katatura though, you might end up with severe problems. Its not safe if you do not have a local with you. Another possible place is the crossing of Bulow with San Nujoma Drive -- there is a snackbar there, and girls hang around to pick up boys. Loiter around long enough, and they will call your attention! (Review # 4274)
