State police crackdown drug, prostitution coming
Friday, April 22, 2005
From staff reports
State police will soon join with county and local law enforcement officials in a proactive effort to combat narcotics distribution and prostitution in all 14 Cumberland County municipalities.
The initiative, organized by the state police Troop A Criminal Investigation Office, based in Buena Vista Township, is scheduled to be conducted May through December.
During this time period, law enforcement officers will pose as narcotics dealers in identified drug distribution areas in an attempt to target potential buyers.
As suspected buyers approach the officers, they will be arrested.
The same technique will be utilized to curtail prostitution throughout the county.
State Police barracks at Bridgeton, Port Norris and Bivalve are part of Troop A, which serves 3,034 square miles of South Jersey.
