im going in sept for first time

i am going to pattaya for seven days in september, it is my first trip out of america. i am a novice at traveling and i have a lot of questions. i am staying at the resident garden hotel in south pattaya. i am going to take around 3 to 4 thousand dollars. i am thinking of taking the bus to pattaya. i saw that the airport was closing and that a new one is going to open. does anyone know when this is going to happen. i have seen an articale about taking the bus from the airport to downtown bangkok and than take the bus from bangkok to pattaya. i was wondering if it is wise to buy clothing ie.. suits at the taylors or not a good a idea. does any one know if electronics are cheaper or the same as they are in america. i am looking to possiably buy some of these items while i am there if they are cheaper. i am also going to bkk for three days and enjoy all that there is to enjoy. of course i am going for the girls. where is the best places to find young girls, not the kind that get you ten to twenty in the pin but younger than what you can get in america. also how easy is it to film or take pictures of thai girls? i would love to get a few gigs of memories to hold me over untill next may.also is it easy to get cialis or viagra there, and if so how much?

    3000 - 4000 $

If that's your budget for 7 days in pattaya + 3 in Bangkok, I really wouldn't bother about busses.

100 $ a day, is a suffucient budjet for a nice holiday: of course, no one will stop you from spending 4 times as much - but for that money, you will have to stay in expensive, overpriced hotels (that offer very little in the way of added value comparing to reasonable hotels), switch 3- 4 different girls a day (and overpay each of them), drink like a fish and buy drinks to strangers etc.

all that in mind - I don't understand why you would want to buy goods that are , at best, only slightly cheaper than what you get get at home, but again to each his own.

    1) Doesn't matter whether you fly into the old or new airport. Take a cab.

    2) Tailors are better in Bangkok than in Pattaya. It is cheap but make sure you get 2 fittings and check the material/seams for quality before you leave.

    3) electronics are not cheaper unless you buy counterfeit, and a counterfeit electronic is pointless

    4) practically 80% of girls will look and act younger than what you see in America, and that's the important part - not the actual biological age

    5) ask politely if you can take pictures

    6) Yes, it's easy to buy cialis or viagra, as much as you want and can afford, vis any pharmacy

Best way, take a bus from the airport to Morchit bus station then a bahtbus in Pattaya to your hotel. Total around 250 baht. But if you got all that $ to spend then jump a cab and pay 1500 + road tolls.

Clothing, pretty cheap but a large size is like a small in the US or Uk so check sizes etc.

Electronics...expensive and very poor build quality. Never bought a mobile in Thailand that lasts long and laptops etc are way overpriced.

All the girls are superslim 38-45 kilo region and look younger than their years.
You will need some eye adjustment time after spending all your life looking at burger fed monsters from the US!

Please don't overpay them, keep to the going rate 500 s/t 1000 l/t
And if you pick a girl from soi 6/7/8 please wear a condom. One of my old drinking pals who lives there just caught multiple std's and is spreading them like wildfire around these sois (streets) but hopefully by September they are all cured!

    Have fun and be safe...

The official rates at the airport taxi stand are now 1500 including tolls.

If you go up the escalators to the departures lounge, you can easily get a taxi for 1,000 B + tolls, that's the way to go.

Check your arrival time. If you arrive late at night or early morning hours, you will need to get to Pattaya via taxi. Make sure the taxi is metered and the farang price is usually 1700-1800 baht including tolls. Tell the driver to stop at a store and pick up a couple of cold ones for the 90 minute ride. During the daytime, the drive can be 2-3 hours. Your return trip should cost about 800 baht, plus toll. The new airport is supposed to debut in September, but it probably wont open until the holidays, so plan on flying into Don Muang Intl. Electronics are cheaper online from US merchants than the prices charged in Thailand. Plus you have to carry or ship the merchandise back home. The tailors in Pattaya are cheaper (as everything else) than in Bangkok, but there is a world class tailor located on Sukhumvit between the Landmark Hotel & the Majestic Suites (Rajawongese Tailor Shop). His customers have ranged from presidents, prime ministers and other dignitaries. His blazers start at $250. Most girls are OK with pictures, however some are very shy when it comes to nude pics. Tequilla will usually fix that. A digital camera with at least a 1 gig of memory will be fine. As far as girls go, most girls go to Pattaya first before moving on to Bangkok. I believe you have to be at least be 19 to work in a go-go bar, but there are 18 yr olds dancing there with fake ID's. The Pattaya discos are probably your best bet for the "barely legals". If you are looking for Viagra or Cialis, all the pharmacys carry it, but beware of counterfeit drugs...

My advice ? Dont go straight to Pattaya. Get a cab or the Bus into Bangkok and chill out there before going down to Pattaya.

Then again why anyone would want to leave Bangkok for Pattaya is beyond me, the place is a shithole now

Can't agree with that Crackpott. I reckon Pattaya is much better that Bangkok these days and much better value. What do you think is better about Bangkok. Last time I was there in January I only stayed one day. I couldn't wait to get out of the place and get on my way to Pattaya.

Take a couple of deep breaths during the daylight hours while you stand on Sukhumvit street. I don't know about you, but I have trouble doing that without feeling just a little uncomfortable at all the crappy smells in the air.

Bangkok on a hot day kills me.... The lack of air makes me sick. But for all the good in pattaya the beach is no better than brighton..... Dirty water etc.

Wonder if you go further down the coast if it get cleaner??

    Better about Bangkok ? Everything.
Lots more to do. Less British bars pubs and cafe's with shaven headed football types getting pissed all the time.

Better nightlife, lots more places to pick up freelancers and non working girls

    Just everything.
Pattaya was best once but not any more.

    Crackpott,

I know what you mean about the football hooligan lager lout element in Pattaya. I don't anybody's that keen on them apart from themselves. But I find they can be avoided without too much difficulty.

I suppose there has to be a lot more to do in Bangkok. Do you mean nightlife as NEP, Soi Cowboy and Patpong or less sex touristy nightclubs?

If you're living in Thailand I can see the argument for Bangkok. But for a two week holiday, which is all I can get, I don't think you can beat Pattaya for value. That beach isn't exactly the most attractive in the world, but you don't have to go swimming in the sea for it to make a big difference. Just the sea breeze makes things better for me.

That smell of excrement coming up from the open sewer as you go onto Beach Road from Walking street is stomach turning though. I can still smell it now just thinking about it.

I think that Pattaya is always worth a look, but every time I go back there the place gets worse, so much so now that I doubt I shall ever return. I'll just remember it how it was.

But to have a 2 week holiday and spend it all in Pattaya is a bit much.
Youve gone halfway round the world and wont see any real Thai Culture ?
I mean at least from Bangkok you could go to Ayyuthaya or Bang Pa In.

Also I still state that the nightlife in Bangkok beats Pattaya hands down. Theres simply so much

2 weeks in pattaya.... No way. Visit Bangkok and see it for real !! Pattaya is like "southend on sea " with cheap hookers and a fucking big sunbead in the sky !!

Jontiem is a bit more relaxed.... And yes I too cannot stand the Scum lads that make a mess of the place.
