    Chinese Visa

I've been to China quite a few times, but I've noticed that my company is processing my visa state-side. They state that China now requires a "letter of invitation" before you can get a visa? Now perhaps this is a new requirement for those of us working there but does anyone know if it affects tourists as well?

A tourist gets an "L" visa. No company sponsorship is needed since the L visa doesn't permit you to work in China. This link gives the details about costs and procedures for obtaining a visa to visit China:
