Be careful, apparently SJPD has been cracking down again
San Jose police arrested 32 people in a wide-ranging prostitution sting that focused on two corridors known for such criminal activity, as well as various hotels including some near San Jose Mineta International Airport.
Dozens of police officers on Wednesday arrested 31 people for solicitation of prostitution and one person for loitering with the intent to solicit prostitution as part of Operation B-Sting, named after the subsection of California Penal Code section 647 that covers those crimes.
Female undercover officers arrested eight suspected adult male "Johns" on South First Street, 10 adult males on Alum Rock Avenue, and eight adult males at hotels near San Jose Mineta International Airport.
In addition, the police Covert Response Unit conducted another hotel-based operation aimed at netting prostitutes. Five adult females were arrested, one of them a reported a missing person out of Modesto who was taken off the missing person's database following her arrest.
The operation involved 63 officers from the Special Operations METRO unit, the Sexual Assaults Investigations Unit, CRU and the patrol division.
