I would say that much of this article is true and you do find girls who are paying off their debt. Less so these days as 10 years ago.
However there are just as many working girls who are in HK on their 3rd or 4th trip and much more in control of their finances. Usually having paid their own way over.

The comment that the price has gone from $1500 to $500 is off the mark.
For the working girls at night time the price is about $1000 - $1500 depending on the situation.
On a Sunday afternoon when there ARE helpers plying the trade - you can get a girl for $500 - $1000.
I know that as I paid 500 for a maid just last weekend without having to barter.

IMHO - The writer of the article was a bit foolish to think that Sunday afternoon is the norm in Wan Chai - especially if a navy boat was in town.

The WGs always charge minimum $1000/1500. The maid parade gives us the opportunity to get a girl for $500. On saturday (jun 30th) I got an Indonesian dh at nm and spent about two hours at hotel. I gave her $500 + $100 for taxi and I noticed she became satisfied about this much.

I have been in HK 4 times since march and I was lucky that Navy was not in town! What is deal for us if they are there? They got all DHs since they are cheaper than the WGs?
