Pattaya recommendations...

First post greets to all! I'm psyche'd over my first trip out of the US (never got to travel much). My friend's dad (age 55) sold me on going to Pattaya saying, "The girls there treat ya like a rockstar." I'll be on holiday there in November for about 2-3 weeks with my friend's dad who will be serving as a guide.

However, after seeing a bunch of his pictures, it occured to me we have different tastes. He likes to drink and goes for more of the mature women. I don't drink and I'm the type looking for 10's around my age bracket (19-29).

It occured to me I'd be going to his favorite dives and might not have as great a time as I anticipate. So, I'd like to prepare and have some backup choices in that event. Any recommendations given my tastes? Also, I did some reading and I believe there are four choices for action: Gogo Bars, Beer Bars, Fish bowls (AMP), and SW's. Where would I have the best luck? Any specific places in particular? Thanks much.

It's difficult to imagine if you've never been there, but believe me, you'll have a good time. The beer bars are fun, and if you want, just drink 7-up or something. Plenty of girls ages 18-30.

Even as a BKK fan of many years, Pattaya blew me out of the water! I got back this morning.
Your travel buddy can be any age, all the girls are every age and they are swarming like ants, there are more girls than guys, every age shape size look and kink in every type of scene. Your best bet for your age will be Walking Street (it's the name of a pedestrian zone) here you will find hot dance clubs as good or better than home, but the difference here is that EVERY stunning girl you see in there or anyplace for that matter, is potentially yours for the asking (and for between 10-30bucks!) You will notice that the clubbers are all drinking bottled water, could it be they are in no need of alcohol due to the availability of other substances? You'll have to investigate that on the day and report back here, champ! After a day or two of familiarisation, you and your travel buddy will wind up going your seperate ways at a certain point in the night anyway, meeting over breakfast, say, to swap tales of debauchery. With these girls, you have to remember to just ASK! Some girls will expect you to know how it works and will wait for you to say, "let's go to my room/upstairs/your room honey" before they respond, and some will practically rape you on the barstool, depends on the girl, and the joint.
You know the funniest thing about it? You will find yourself turning down girls that you would otherwise waste the entire evening on anywhere else on the planet! That's what your travel partner means when he says you will be treated like a rockstar. You will be the one saying "no" not the girls! If you want a blowjob right at the bar as you take your first sip of coke (I shit you not!) go to Soi6 "My Freind You" Bar is good for that particular trip! Eitherway, you are in for something that can only be described by being there, no movie could do it justice, except maybe an Asian Gang Bang DVD! Finally, a word about the food, they CAN'T cook western food well there! A burger will cost about the same as a barfine (B250) and taste like shit! Apart from breakfast (buy cereal n milk at any 7 eleven) learn to eat Thai food, it really is healthier, wayy cheaper, probably safer, and a hell of a lot tastier than their attempts at western food! Hint: Get your girl to order for you and ask her to teach you how to say "No Chili" if you can't handle it.
PS: If you are a reasonably good looking guy, you might even free-score one of the few British/German/Russian/Aussie tourist girls who wander in to Pattaya for a look, and feel flattered to get hit on when they check out the competition such as they have never experienced before!

also from what Ive read, the main reason why most clubbers drink water , cause have alot of local gals doing Estasy pills in clubs. try and stay away from doing any illegal drugs while there. 1)will get stiff jail time in shit hole thai prison if caught 2)could be set up by locals selling drugs working with corrupt police for bribe shakedown of major cash if dont want jail time. So, stay smart and U should be ok there.

Mai Phet was a wonderful phrase. Once I learned it I was actually able to eat the food. It is absolutely amazing how hot they can make things like soup in Thailand.

ahhhhh Soi 6, gives me Post-Thailand-Depression ! King Kong Bar is one of my favorites and some girls there are stunning. The best thai girl I ever had worked at this place but is now happily married in Europe. Good for her !! Anyway, Soi 6 is known as "short time row" and all the bars open at 11 AM or 1 PM. Plenty of girls and rooms for ST. If you don't like to lay down on the beach, what better than a nice BJ in the afternoon ? Try this street, it's great.
Personally I realy like beer bars because the girls a friendlier and less pushy than Go-Go dancers. Of course, the dancers are most of the time beautiful, but once they are in your room, they have often a bad attitude. They know that they can have another customer if they are quick ! Beside they are more expensive for the same pussy. Beer bar girls have only one customer per night and are acting like a real girlfriend if you treat them well. Soi 2, soi 7, soi 8 and walking street are some (of the thousand) beer bars.
Indiana Bones, I don't drink as well and I probably have a better time than most of the drunken I saw laying on the floor. Girls hate drunk guys and the will appreciate you even better if they see that you don't drink. You will be a rockstar ! Enjoy !
Last but not least try the BJ bars on Soi 13/2. You sit around a bar on the 1st floor and a girl gives you a nice BJ while you are drinking your beer. Very funny when you are with friends because they all look like they are suffering of Alzeihmer (the glass is shaking !). Interesting experience. One of the bar is called "The pump station" (no need to explain what it means !). They are 3 or 4 such bars in a row. Ask for the prices first because some are more expensive than others. Nice place to start your tour of duty at 5 PM !
Well, well cannot wait to go back to Pattaya in July.

I'm not by any means an expert on every greasy spoon joint in Thailand, but IMHO unless you are eating at a 5 star outfit (with prices to match) the thais make a hash (pardon the pun) of any attempt at western food.
I ate at Crazy Dave's in Pattaya to name just one that I recall, and even videos of "Little Britain" (which I think is the best thing on the telly since the young ones 20 years ago) could not make the food taste British. I'm not saying Dave's is shithouse, but just that 'something' is not quite right.... basically, unless you import EVERYTHING (Bacon in particular absorbs what the piggies are fed on) it will taste out of kilter.
Don't get me wrong, when in Rome... I love Thai food and even tried grasshoppers once! But, apart from my daily 7/11 or familymart dairy fix, from sad experience I usually avoid overpriced farang 'muck' over there!

There is unfortunately a conservative government in power in LOS now, and you may have read in TIME etc how the cops in Thailand are basically gunning dealers (and even suspected dealers) down in the street.
Things appear to be easing off since last year, but the cops have been known especially in Bangkok, to raid clubs and force everyone to take drug tests on the spot. This is not a travel rumour it has happened. See www.bangkokpost.com
If you are tempted to take a jagged little pill, or a little weed or speed, try to be somewhere private, like back in your/her room before it comes on.
Maybe you are not even a drugging kinda guy, but being far away from home with an alluring young lovely under a tropical moon, can change men...
And let's face it, if you want to do the whole 'Rock/Superstar' gig well, you just gotta hit on SOMETHING more than Lemonade, hell it never hurt the Grandaddy of cool, Jack Nicholson (We won't mention Ozzie Osbourne - heheh!) But seriously, Just be smart. I won't say pass up the chance if you get it cos there IS a lot of pure bullshit spun by all the worlds govenments about MOST rec drugs, basically, a vacation of casual use does not a junkie make... but try to stack the odds in your favour if you ARE tempted. There IS one rule... DON'T USE NEEDLES - EVER!
Whatever you do there, look out for number one, as a non-drinker, you're ahead of the pack from the git-go, you'll do fine!
