yes, you are million times 'unsafe' in Philippines

Come on .. if you are not street smart, you will be robbed anywhere in Asia .. almost anywhere ..

and you don't need to invite trouble if you flash an expensive phone, show off gold, and carry a wad of cash ..

the people in Philippines are good, it is that thieves outnumber the good people and always, foreigners are fair game.

Well I never said that you had to be dumb... of cause you just need common sense, the rest you will learn as you go along. I have lived there for many many years, so I know what I am talking about. No need to put people off. Yes, kids come running up 50% of the time and some tries to get their hands in your pocket, just be aware and keep their hands out. Just keep on walking! that also goes for other people approaching you in the street, say no thanks or no money and keep on walking, even if you may feel rude. FORGET that rude feeling, keep on walking (never stop up). If you really wish and feel that you need to donate to the kids MAKE SURE that you give them an equal amount each and in the process dont show them other money than the ones you plan to donate! AND never give if they are more than 3 because then they make to much noise. Also think about this....Dont donate on a rute that you normally walk.....the kinds will remember you and shout when they see you, attracting alot of attention. None of the kids or other people will physical attack you, and that really is what people need to know. Life is learn by doing, and with common sense and a little knowledge you will get far. :-)

You will also notice that many people like to walk on the side of the street in the night/evening that is because many years ago there was several incidents, were "bad people" hid along buildings and draged people in to rob them. They would never go "all " the way out to the street to grab someone since the police "if they were caught" would tear them to pieces. Theese incidents are rare now adays, but to be on the safe side just walk in the side of the street if there is no traffic during the evening, but the chance of getting hit by a car is probally bigger. Again dont be put off, like I said, the philipino people are 99% good peolpe and no one will physical harm you. Just use common sense.

Oh, when I head to MBC, I avoid walking there, and when leaving, grab the first cab that passes by .. as I don't want to get myself entangled with the beggers and others ..

I hate to say this....but punters MUST pay for taxi!! Walking to hotel from MBC is just to dangerous. Kids Will pickpocket you. Beggars will pickpocket you. Ladyboys will pickpocket you!.

I lost my wallet, cell phone, etc... just for being too cheap, and walking to my room with a lady. kids surronded us, beggars attacked us! I will always pay the 100p for a taxi at MBC!

Was in Malate again last week and checked out MBC. Looks like same old LAC to me - all good. Downstairs busy so went upstairs with a girl from down and paid her entrance fee. Shot some pool with her at MBC upstairs but A/C no good so went to Amazonia just up the road on tnhe right. Much quieter in there and better A/C for Pool.

Amazonia is an old cave full of aging ex-pat lounge lizards and whores who can't get into MBC so be careful.

The jewel in the sand in there is JaneJo the waitress. Cute 25ish with dark skin. Didn't get round to her because I had the girl from MBC with MBC girl with me but if you do let me know. She was cute so I bought her chicken dinner and left a tip for next time around.

The girl from MBC was called Myla and that's what was on her ID too. Streetwise half chinese with a cute face and a good rack she likes showing off. Nice tatoo on her back at the waist for lining up on. Shes good for a blow with out without and enthusiastic about it. Nice clean shaved and smooth skin. Goes anyway you want. I hung with her for 2 nights. Pesos 1500 and 1000. She says 27 but ID says 37. Who cares she passes for 27 so she must have been a living doll at 17. Recommended.

These are three VERY GOOD pieces of advise. Never engage any stranger in the street unless you are hungry and want buy some food from a street cart. KEEP WALKING. I too have learned to instinctively walk in the street at night as opposed to the sidewalk in Manila metro especially. Hell unless you are drunk, and I never am there, all filipino motorized vehicles are so loud you can hear them coming anyway.

NEVER talk to anyone, especially males in the street or in public unless they are working in an establishment, as no positive outcome will come of it.

Keep moving until you go inside wherever your destination is.

Strange - I clearly remember they used the have a site.

In any event - what do u need it for? the site never mentioned anything about girls or mongering - it's just a pub (I think they used to call themselves "the best pub in the world").
