Thailand trip in December

I would appreciate information about travel to Phuket Island. I am booking a trip there for 2 weeks during Christmas/New Year.

I would like any information I could get that would help me make this trip memorable...

phuket or pattaya is better??

Spent 4 days in Pattaya at the start of Nov 2004. It was my 2nd trip to Pattaya in the past 3 years. In 2003, I spent a few days in Phuket. In retrospect, comparing Phuket to Pattaya is like comparing a Corvette to a Ferrari. If you have to choose between the two, you definitely have to go with Pattaya...

Completely different venues really! But Pattaya for my money....A like minded crowd, terrific hotels and facilities. Plenty of women and very affordably priced. Phuket has a nice modern layout. It is very picturesque, adorned with beautiful beaches, but the girls more 'pushy' and you have to wade through honey mooners and every other leering tourist from every corner of the world! Phuket is for off season only, though Pattaya during X-mas can be trying! Have a good trip!
