Met this chica named Karla that lives in Belem. Met her online .... she wants me to come there and visit. Anyone know anything about this place .... if I go I'm taking one for the team seeing there is not info posted. Any help will be greatful.

I spent the better part of 6 months in São Luís M.A. and wasn't very impressed, small shabby city with not much to do. Many people told me that São Luís was very similar to Belem, so based on that info I personally would probably skip Belem. However, you could go check the city and the girl out and if you don't like either one then it's easy catch a plane from Belem to Fortaleza which I still think is the best city in the NE to visit.

Belem is a big city located between a river and the forest. You can visit churches, museums, popular markets and modern shopping malls. There are colonial and XIX century buildings but it's not Olinda nor Salvador. You also can take the boat and spend some days on the quiet island of Marajo.
You can have dinner at the Docks (Estação das Docas) and next pick up a FL walking around. There are also some SW's around the bar near Teatro da Paz, opposite to Hilton. The most famous boate (Terma) in Belem is Lokomotiva. All taxi drivers know the place and most are willing to give you advices. Other options are in local classified and gpguia.
