I have just spent the last week in Baku and I would like to share with you my thoughts and insights into the P4P scene in this city. The purpose of the trip was to assess whether Baku could be recommended as a mongering destination compared to Germany and Moldova, two countries which I know quite well. Getting Around and General Tips

Flights – Azeri Airways was by far the cheapest from Gatwick at £360 all in, for a direct 5½ hour flight. As they are 4 hours ahead it will be late when you arrive.

Visas – you buy your visa at the airport. It has just gone up to $100. Have this in cash. You will need two passport photos. You will also need to fill out an application form, so bring a pen. When you get off the plane, go (run!) straight to the passport queue, get it stamped, then go to the other queue to buy your visa, then go back to the passport queue again. Yes, of-course it’s stupid, but hey, this is the Azeri way.

The 25 minute taxi ride to the town centre will cost you $35. Bring the exact amount to avoid being ripped off anymore than that. I suppose you could try and get this for less, but you will be tired and annoyed after getting your visa, so just cough it up!

Accommodation – English language newspapers can be found in hotels and ex pat bars etc which contain adverts for renting apartments from $35 per day if you are staying for just a few days. I didn’t pursue this option myself, but this is what I would recommend anyone to do for two reasons: Firstly, it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than renting a hotel room, and secondly, you don’t have the hassle of bringing girls back to your hotel and getting them past the staff.

Money – everyone uses the local currency called the (new) Manat. (They have just divided the old one by 5000.) 100 Manat is approximately 90 euros, $120 or £60. Only take $135 with you and a selection of plastic for using ATMs. The majority of ATMs did not accept my plastic, so I had to walk around trying out various machines, which was a pain. At a pinch, you could pay a working girl in any currency but I would strongly recommend just using Manats, otherwise your wallet gets messed up.

Dress – if you are like me then you will wish to blend in and not draw too much attention from Policemen and (other) criminals. Being an Islamic country, black goes down particularly well, so take a black leather jacket with black jeans and wear shades to hide your (blue) eyes.

I’ll now discuss how to find women for sex: -

Usually, my favourite method is to buy the local newspaper and then ring up the working girls on their mobiles and negotiate in Russian. For this method to work you have to speak Russian (surprise, surprise) and have a local SIM card in order to avoid high phone charges. I’m very disappointed to have to report that this method completely failed me in Baku. I could have been using the wrong local papers, so if anyone has any comments then please tell me. Obviously the English language newspapers had adverts for girls, but who wants to pay ex-pat rates? I also answered adverts for in-call massages, but the quoted prices were high (eg 50 Manat) and they emphasised no sex, so that was a waste of time.

Pick ups – normally I don’t bother trying to pick up women on the street (so to speak) as it takes ages and often costs more than using a working girl. This attitude is particularly important when operating in an Islamic country. The only type of girl you will stand any chance with will be those of Russian descent, so don’t waste time talking to anyone else. Bars and discos – I think that these establishments are the only viable places to meet working girls in Baku. If you disagree then let’s hear it. In the short time I was there, I had a few experiences and can pass on my comments.

The first night-club I tried was called Sherwood. I went there as it was near to where I was staying. I will post a picture of the entrance to it in the picture section. This area of the centre of Baku is near to the cinema, the Porto Fino Restaurant and the Black Jack disco, which is around the back of the cinema.

When I say that it was the first club I tried – that is exactly what I mean. I walked in and it was basically empty, so I turned to go out. A girl approached me and asked me to stay. She had a pretty face, a nice cleavage and a very nice demeanour – so I sat down with her and had a chat. Her name was Layla and I have posted her picture in the relevant section. She looked like an Azeri but did not speak particularly good Russian and this was typical of other working girls I met. Maybe someone who is reading this and who knows the country well can explain where these girls come from and why they don’t speak Russian so well?

Layla asked me to buy her a drink. Normally I’m very wary of this, but I succumbed. Two drinks cost about 6 or 7 Manat so that was OK. Then, in a very nice, bashful way, she explained to me that I could have sex with her all night in my apartment if I paid her 100 Manat. I had no idea what the local price level was like, but had read that the average monthly income was a lot less than 100, so I offered her 50 if she stayed for just a couple of hours. I knew from previous experience that she would only stay for an hour or so anyway. She said that she would definitely stay the whole night, but I did not believe her, but she quickly agreed to 50 in any case. Then she insisted on taking a taxi back to my place, even though we could easily walk it. I later found out that any girl seen out walking after midnight (especially with a man) would immediately get hassle from the Police. This also meant that “all night” actually meant “all night”.

Once I was committed to taking her home, things changed a bit. She started to lose her charm and became more aggressive and this turned me off. Back in the apartment she would not let me look at her naked and she insisted on having a shower alone, then she wanted the lights turned out when we were together. She also did not have any condoms, but insisted that she was clean! Can you believe that? I took the usual precaution of locking the door to the apartment and hiding the key, so she could not leave without me letting her. The overall impression I had by this time was that she was a completely ignorant tart and I consequently don’t care in the slightest about posting her picture on this site. I ascertained that she was afraid of policemen because whenever a police siren sounded outside we would tremble slightly – even though we were many stories up in the air. She also appeared to be afraid of me because she would slightly cower if I moved suddenly.

I thought I would make the best of a bad job by telling her to give me a blowjob and she was reasonably happy to oblige. This went on for quite a long while as there was not much else I thought I could do with her. We changed positions a few times and when she was on her knees she asked me not to come in her mouth. As she had been so aggressive to me earlier I really did not give a damn about her request and pumped my cock hard into her throat causing her to gag a little. The next night I thought I would try out the Hilton club which is opposite the Sherwood. I arrived after midnight and it was pretty dead. All the people in there knew each other and I imagine they were all related to each other, so that I was the only genuine customer. All of the working girls were ugly except for a plainly dressed 18 year old beauty called “I Say” who I ended up talking to. She asked me to buy her a drink, and on the strength of my experience with Layla, I said yes. Big mistake. I subsequently read in a guidebook that Azerbaijan is the only country in the world known to the author where restaurants bring extra dishes which you are expected to pay for, even if you don’t eat them. And they certainly went to town on me. I was then presented with a bill for 36 Manat, which is about £22. I immediately protested, my girl walked off and the bouncer came over and said I had to pay. I considered making a dash for it, but I had about £200 in cash on me and a mobile phone which had cost a similar amount. For the sake of losing this little lot (and possibly getting knocked about) I eventually paid them and left. This episode demonstrates the folly of carrying around valuables with you and then putting yourself into situations where they might be stolen. On balance, I think £22 was a small fee to pay for this reminder.

I also realised later that when I had met Layla on the previous night it was not in the club’s interest to rip me off and turf me out, as I subsequently ended up spending 50 Manat with her. With the little 18 year old girl, however, she was not a working girl, just someone’s little sister and there was no way they would have let me take her away for sex. They were just maximising their revenue.

Ex-pat bars – There’s a fair few of these and they all have Scottish oil workers in them (most of whom are over fifty and called “Jimmy”). Maybe if you go after midnight you will find some working girls, but I didn’t try this route myself.

Discos – The best two places I visited for finding girls were the Black Jack and Coral discos which are 30 yards apart on either side of the cinema. Ok, they were the only two, as I did not have time to try out any other possibilities. I have posted pictures of both entrances in the appropriate section. I walked into Coral and asked the bar man how much a Red Bull cost. He said 5 Manat, so I paid him, and then he gave me a cheap bottle of fruit juice. Shucks. Actually, I felt very safe in these two places compared to the Hilton club of the previous night. The working girls really did pester me a lot, but it’s not like I was doing anything else there, so that was fine. I stayed an hour in Coral waiting for Black Jack to open. One ugly working girl with a warm heart struck up a good conversation with me in English. This proved useful later when I transferred to Black Jack, as she also did and she was able to give me some of the local gossip about what was going on. Both places did not charge entrance on this Sunday night.

What you are supposed to do here is dance the night away and then take your favourite girl home and shag her brains out. Instead, I developed a different strategy: - Ask a girl for her mobile phone number and how much she would charge for sex tomorrow afternoon for one hour, in your apartment. It only took me about half an hour to get the best four girls’ phone numbers and quickly ascertain their price levels and linguistic skills. Basically they all wanted 100 Manat for the night or 50 Manat + taxi for tomorrow afternoon. Taxis were always quoted at another 20, even though the true market price has got to be less than 5 (and there’s good public transport). I had the impression that this would include oral sex without a condom. All this information is, I’m afraid, incomplete, because I didn’t follow up any of these leads, as I was side-tracked by other events. I think that these prices are high for a country this poor, but I think it reflects how often a girl expects to get a customer. Maybe the way to go is to negotiate a discount on all future work provided the first encounter is up to scratch? Once again, I didn’t do this, so I can’t comment on its effectiveness. Looking at it from the girl’s perspective, however, I think a lot of that price is to compensate them for the risk of going to a private place with a strange man.

Linked to this is the thought that if you take two girls home with you they ought to feel safer about the idea and so should charge you less per person. On the other hand, you won’t be able to watch both girls at the same time, so hide your valuables before you go out! And of-course, the other rule about doubles is to try out one of the girls on her own first. Decisions, decisions…

The final category I will discuss is saunas. A typical Russian way of passing an afternoon is to get a group of people together (naturally, including young women of a certain loose disposition) and then going and renting a sauna for a couple of hours. I tried looking for a sauna but completely failed. I should have asked a taxi driver sooner. Anyway, I was near the entrance to the Radisson Hotel and a taxi driver told me that there was a dodgy massage place just round the corner. Here are the directions: Come out of the Radisson Hotel main entrance and turn right. Take the first right turning after about 50 metres. Go another 20 metres and take the first right turning down a side alley. You will see a basement club called Gentlemen. Ring the bell.

This I did and a 27 year old girl let me in. For somewhere in such a good location, the facilities were absolutely, bloody awful. Don’t go there unless you want an “experience”. Well, I wanted an experience and told the girl that I wanted sex. She said it was not possible, but that I could have an hour’s massage and a “masturbation”. The price would be 10 Manat for the massage and 5 for the “masturbation”. And it would be with her. I agreed, and gave her a 20. She quite shamelessly demanded another 5. I’ve never known a country like this! Anyway, I had a very average massage followed by a reasonably good wank. I said she was 27. Well that’s what she told me. She looked more like 35, but not unattractive. What I liked was that she stared into my eyes whilst wanking me. Nice touch.

Maybe I ought to mention here that the Hyatt offers a one hour massage for about $35 and you can sneak into the other facilities whilst you are there. I had a nice girl professionally massage me – but nothing else. I would recommend this. And while I am on the subject of the Hyatt, yes, the night-club downstairs called 1033 has closed.

I wanted to try out the Compass Hotel-night-club-brothel, which is a large, white, old ship moored in the harbour. I spent some time one night trying to walk up to it around the docks area but gave up, even though I could see it in the distance. Someone I met in Baku told me that it really was a dirty old place full of prostitutes and that I should not go there. That was precisely why I wanted to go there! But if anyone reading this has paid the Compass a visit I would love to read a report of their experiences.

I am now going to write a report on what happened to me as the Black Jack disco was closing around 2.30am Monday morning. This is slightly off-topic for a website about P4P, so don’t read it if that’s what you are after – but I think it illustrates what can happen if you allow yourself to take risks and “go with the flow”.

I was tired, it was late and I had been drinking. The ugly, friendly girl had advised me to go with a certain working girl called Leman who would be “very good”. He said he was Georgian and spoke Russian quite badly with a strong, foreign accent. He looked half drunk and would laugh a lot to show goodwill. He kept on saying “I’m not gay, I’m not gay” in Russian. Fortunately I had just learnt the local slang word for “gay” that very day, so I understood him.

Our group of people was speaking Azeri, Georgian, Turkish, or God knows what language. After some time Leman told me that Boris had invited everyone to his place around the corner to continue the party. “Would I like to come?” I hesitated as I was just about to go home. Then Leman said that Boris would pay for me to have sex with her. I thought then that I realised what was going on. My theory was that Boris was secretly gay, but fancied me and wanted to watch me have sex with three or four different girls so that he could get off on it. I thought back to an experience I had in FKK World on 12-02-05 (read my report) where a guy had paid for me to have sex with someone provided he could watch. There was a stunningly attractive young blond called Rosa (whose phone number I had asked for) and two other girls as well, one of whom was very fanciable. My trip was fantastic, but I would not automatically recommend other punters to go to Baku. I think the main conclusion is that you can have a good time if you find yourself there for some other reason, but I would not recommend it as a primary mongering destination. Germany and Moldova beat it. Having said that, I have not been to Moldova now for 2½ years.

I think it is expensive to go there in terms of the air ticket, the visa and the fees charged by the girls, when compared to the alternatives. The price of everything else is about what you would expect it to be. One advantage it has over the German Fkks, however, is that you can take photos and videos of yourself having sex.

I wasn’t there long enough to be able to make generalisations about whether oral sex without a condom is normal. OWO was normal on this trip for me, but I remember that on my last Moldova trip, covered oral was normal. Maybe someone can comment on this?

Some update on Baku mongering scenes.

1. Club Black Jack at Bul-bul st.- mostly girls over 35s hanging around in the bar . Maybe mix local/russian. Asking price 50-100mnt.

2. Club Metro near fountain sq. - better looking girls but still around 30s. Local Azeries. Place a bit rundown. Prce 50-70mnt.

3. Club Infinity near gogol/vidadi st. - younger girls, more options.... asking for 100mnt but can go down to 50 + 20 for taxi. Better and cleaner environment.

4. Engaged service of freelance girls thru local friend, 50 for 3 hrs room, 50 for girl and 20 for taxi. One is a teacher, another session is a student.

Islamism is on rise and the police crackdonw on girls is increasing. The people have become more agressive. Don't advise to go anywehre with somebody you know. Nights are not safe. There were also strikes in foreign companies, so as you can get the xenophobia is on the rise. Foreigners are increasinly disliked. Be watchful where you go. I have visited Baku and rented a flat in the centre, it's a typically West European and Russianised city.

I saw zero Islamic influence so whateven the Armenian troll writes must be a figment of his imagination.
