    a good hotel in Pattaya

    Hei everyone!

I'm going to Pattaya for the first time in June and I really want this trip to be good. I need recommendations for a nice hotel, placed near the action. I'm prepared to pay 2-4000 bath per night. I want a spacious room with a nice bathroom, possibly with a tub. The hotel must be guest-friendly and clean. Can anyone of your guys give med a tip?

Sorry for my bad english... :-) Thanks :-)

You won't go wrong with anything in that price range. I would just focus on location first and once you decide exactly where you want to be you can narrow down your search.

Check out JW Marriott, Hard Rock Hotel, Residence Garden. There are much less expensive hotels in better locations but these are the higher end ones.

If you want to stay out on Soi2 and take the baht bus down to the freak show I would highly recommend Sabai Lodge or Sabai Resort. You will find that with Baht buses (which happen to go down Soi2 on their loop circuit) it's still VERY convenient and not as many crazies out there.

    Jaktgal,

If you are willing to spend up to 4000 bht on a room, I highy recommend the Marriott Hotel on Beach Road. It's right in the center of all the action, within walking distance of Walking Street and has a great pool.

I just got back from PTY and stayed at the Marriott for 7 nites. I recommend this hotel.

Be careful of the Hardrock Hotel because they will charge a joiner fee.
    Have fun.

Try the Residence Garden, they have a web-site, you can check there the rooms and the prices.
Get a room high up and to the front, with the bed-room to the back!
Nice hotel, nice people, no problems walking there to the Beach Road or Walking Street even late at night.

Can anyone tell me if the LK Metropole hotel is girl friendly?

    http://www.lkpattayahotel.com/metropole/index.html

It looks great a the website and location seems to be good also, my travel agent is quoting it at ~ 22,000 b / night, which seems to be reasonable for such quality hotel.

Areca Lodge is a good place to stay and reasonably priced.. I stayed there my last trip.. Location is fairly good too.. The LK Metro looks hella nice so 2,200 baht seems like a fair price. It's up to you if you want to stay in luxury and pay more or go with standard and pay half.

Don't take this the wrong way. My first couple trip I stayed at the Montien. A few trips later I had a few nights at the hard Rock and to be honest...Thailand's third World, these hotels really are not worth the extra baht. Not to mention the hassle bringing in girls to the room. They are all out for a cut of the rich farangs money.

Get yourself in the flipper Soi 8 (1000 baht a night) and enjoy freedom to take who you wish when you wish to your room.

Thai hookers don't care where you live. They only care for the money in the morning.

Your exactly right Rocky... I think most of us started out blowing our wads on nice things in Thailand.. only to learn most of it is not worth it. Expensive food and hotels are a total waste of baht 90% of the time. It seems like the more you pay in Thailand the less good shit you get. Of course there are exceptions, but overall most are best if you go avg.

I pay 1,200 baht for a hotel room in BKK, 300 baht for nice meals, and don't buy any luxury goods. Its more expensive in BKK so why would i waste my money. I think the more I go to BKK the cheaper i become.. Its a true sign of a veteran monger.

I agree with you, that last remark was totally out of order.

I think anything up to 1500 baht is acceptable for a room in Bangkok but let's not knock the guys who can afford to stay at the Landmark or Marriott.

I rarely pay more than 300 baht for a meal although I never eat "on the street" as I like to eat with some air-con.

These days, 4,000 baht doesn't get you a room at the Marriott any more...

I like air con full stop. Too hot for me last time.

What I need in a good room is location, good sized bed and quiet aircon.

Doesn't matter if you're in the Hard Rock or the Sunshine hotel, you will still fall over broken pavements and be propositioned on beach rd by Ladyboys.

Only difference I found is they scatter rose petals on your bed and charge you a fortune for food and drink. And guests.
