    Bar for sale

No, this is not an advert, just wanted to share this E-Mail with you that I received from a "Friend" in Pattaya. I have not corrected the spelling, she actually speaks near perfect English. -------

    Ok Jim

I'm sorry for that, now i know who you are. So how is things there ? Every thing go good for you there ?

Here is so borring me, i want to go out some where. Really every day same thing happenno chance to go some where or do something eals. And specialy i do want to sale bar now, do you have any friend that he want to by bar in Pattaya ?

Have to go to work now, talk to you again later. take care, bye x

I do feel quite sorry for her because her bar will never do any good, it is part of a complex and right at the back so any potential customers are "captured" before they get to her.
If she can't make it pay then what chance would a farang have. ???

Rocky is too streetwise to buy a bar like that, as he pointed out the other day as a farang you are not a "bar owner" but a bar renter, there is a big, big difference.

    No mate, not that classy.

The boxing complex on the right, just before you enter Walking Street.

I think thats the Siren Complex and its actually owned by one of Pattaya's (not so) finest I believe.
Any farang buying a bar in Pattaya must have rocks in his head unless he is intent on burning his life savings. There are so many pitfalls its untrue and the Thais will always fleece you in the end. Also, look at the number of bars, some of which get only a handful of customers in the low season.
Best way to do Thailand is live on a budget and mind your own business - you can't go wrong but guess I don't need to say this to too many on here.

Quite right, and the barstaff still have to be paid 3000 baht each month regardless of how quiet the bar has been, some girls are lucky if they get one barfine a week.

    Interesting e-mail Jimmy.

Yip...it must be a torturous time for some people. I used to go to a little bar down a Soi off Soi Beukow. This place was always empty and the other bars nearby were full.
I asked the Mamasung why and she told me that Her Thai Boss didn't know how to use the Internet like the busy Farang bars and the Farang bar owners (renters)
So I guess a Thai owning a bar can be at a very big disadvantage too. If you know how to advertise yourself on places such as Secrets then I believe you could pull a LOT of custom that way.

My bar owning (renting ) idea is taking second place to a lot of property dealing here at the moment.
It's on hold for the foreseeable future. But I will probably pull my trip forward and expect to stay all of May (maybe longer) in Pattaya.

    I need another holiday!

As a bar renter once told me (in Soi post office) I don't make much from this but it's my hobby and my window on the World to meet people.

His pensions paid the bills in low season and he made a little in high. I think that's about as good as it can get for some people.

The internet is useful for bars such as the FLB on Walking Street but it would not be much use if your bar was part of a complex, no one would be able to find you or they would be captured before they reach you.

"Captured" might not be the correct term here.

Lot's of really nice, sweet looking women in the bars at the front of complex, near the street.
    Some are downright beautiful.
    "What kind of erection, sir?"
    "A rip-roaring hard on, ma'am. It was a rip-roaring one."

Not too sure about "downright beautiful", but some are OK I suppose.

I would imagine those bars at the front would be more expensive to buy, when I say buy I mean the lease obviously.

A blind man could find Hotties, yes it is part of a complex but there are signs pointing to it plus it is not one of the open air bars.

It was OK but I went there too early in the evening, one girl would not leave me alone despite the fact that I did not buy her a drink.

She told me barfines are 600 baht and girls expect 2000 baht ---- I declined her kind offer.

Holy crap I just looked at the pics of the girls, if that was a western country they'd get in serious trouble for false advertising by calling the bar hotties
