    Should I visit Pattaya?

Planning on coming to Thai for about 10 days near the end of March. Going to spend about 2 days in Bangkok before venturing to one of the beach resorts. Sure I love the ladies but would also like to spend some time chilling on the beach, tanning up and just relaxing. Is Pattaya a good place to go for this, or would I be better off in Phuket or Hua Hin or even Ko Samui?

Additionally do you guys recommend I try and buy a package (seen for around £800) or get flight only and sort it all out on arrival.

    Thanks!!

Pattaya doesn't have nice beaches. IMHO, the best mix of ladies and beaches would be Phuket.

None of the experienced guys on here would buy a package. I personally buy my flight and then book my hotels online.
The big problem with a package is that you could end up in a hotel that is not girl friendly, that means every time you take a girl back the hotel will charge you a fee which can be up to 1000 baht in Phuket.

Absolutely, Phuket is the best all-in-one location in Thailand.

Forget the package, just book the flight and book your Bangkok hotel online (there is a long thread here about girl-friendly hotels so check that) and maybe one night in a Phuket hotel then do the rest as you go. Set plans have a habit of changing in Thailand

I like to relax at the beach, and I've been able to do that at Pattaya/Jomtien.

The beach isn't great but it's not crowded in the morning, and it's not bad either. And I think they're talking about decreasing the number of umbrellas to make more space later.

And depending on your priorities, Pattaya's nightlife is much more vibrant than Phuket.

You also have the added advantage that Pattaya is a 129 baht, 2 hour bus ride from Ekkamai station on the BTS (Bangkok).

I'm not telling you not to go anywhere. You should check out both of these places at some point, even if it's not the same vacation. Pattaya and Phuket are both "must see" places at least once in your life.

Bear in mind that if you are on a tight budget, Phuket is far more expensive than Pattaya.

Especially the hotels before May 1st, after that they get cheaper, possibly because it will be pissing down with rain.

Go to Jomtien. Decent beach and some laid back bars. Pattaya's just a 20 baht ride away.

Don’t forget Koh Larn is only a 20 baht ferry ride away for a far better beach.

Where do you get this from?
Are you saying from Pattaya you can get on a ferry that takes you to one of those islands you can see in the distance? And you can spend all day there and then get a ferry back in the evening?

Pier at the end of Walking St (Bali Hai?)

Or you can hire one of the speed boats from Pattaya beach.

    From my experience:
price in phuket = price in pattaya * 1.5
