Peoria's a dry town, as far as I know. Springfield, Bloomington-Normal, and Champaign are all dry as well. I've heard of a MP in Lasalle-Peru, but have heard little to nothing about it in terms of whether they offer FS, the quality of the women, or their price ranges.

There used to be quite a bit of Street action in P town however like everywhere else it's probably near dead. I've seen some SW's strolling around on different occasions when I was in the area over the years. Near the downtown area, was around Madison & Adams then near the police station in a run down area, don't remember the streets.Originally posted by deadguy

They do have some great stip bars down in the area, there's 3 full nude ones & a few others near Bloomington. Not much going on but they take it all off & there's beer. Not a bad way to kill some time in a boring hick town.

I visited Fantasyland while I was in Peoria..
Nice strip club, nude and beer, not bad..
I was looking for more and you guys are right this is a dry town, could not find a thing anywhere, even in Pekin.

Even in Pekin? What the hell made you want to even look in that hick town?Originally posted by mrnstar69

Wasn't always a dry town, according to a Peoria Star article I once read back in the 1920's there were many a whore houses, one on every other block or so, they'd even cruise them around in the back of horse & buggy cars, riding around like a Good Humor ice cream truck looking for business. Gambling was real big too.
How times change![]()

THE SW in Peoria have moved north of were they were a few yers back they now linger around the big church that you can see while driving on I-74 through downtown. Quality varies sometimes lots are ou other times none.
[There are a number of articles about the Peoria situation, including some about disgusting "jailhouse confessions" of Mr. Miller The Prostitute Killer, but this article is about the most informative of the bunch, and really makes clear the current Peoria situation--Blaccjacc]
Peoria-area prostitutes weigh risks, skin color
Women are aware of dangers, but some feel more afraid than others

PEORIA - Lisa, a white prostitute who frequents the North Valley neighborhoods around Morton Square Park, says it's not the first time women who share her lifestyle have turned up dead.
"I've been here since Joe Miller and Arlie Ray Davis were around," the 38-year-old said recently while sitting at the front steps of a home in the 800 block of Madison Avenue. "I've lost some friends. ... I think the grace of God is protecting me."
Miller, who was convicted of killing two Cook County women in the late 1970s, later was released to Peoria in 1993, when he struck again here, killing four women. Davis was convicted of murdering a Kewanee woman in 1995 and had been suspected in the killing of a Peoria woman and the disappearance of four others.
A multi-jurisdiction police task force, formed in September, is investigating the deaths of six African-American women with a history of prostitution and drugs who have been dumped in isolated areas in Peoria and Tazewell counties since 2001. Four missing women who fit the same profile as the victims are part of the investigation.
Lisa, who since this interview has been in and out of drug treatment, says she isn't afraid - mostly because of her skin color. "But they (the black prostitutes) are afraid. I don't want them to go out there."
City police on the street say most black prostitutes have left the corners.
"The white girls are still out there," one Peoria police officer says bluntly. "I tell them, what if this guy runs out of black girls, who do you think he's going to go to next?"
The last three months have marked an apparent decline in open prostitution around Morton Square Park and the North Valley neighborhoods, where probably the most flagrant prostitution has endured since it was predominately Downtown up until the late 1980s.
Many of those still "working" the streets, hopping into cars and trucks with either strangers or their "regulars," are white prostitutes like Lisa. There still are black prostitutes - just not at the corners.
Prostitution stings, operated by undercover police, also have picked up a number of others who remained out and persistent. Many are now in Peoria County Jail or have since been sent to the state's Department of Corrections.
Some forms of the trade also dot the South Peoria streets, but mostly in the way of "hustlers," those who are interested in getting crack cocaine any way they can, whether they act as a go-between with dealers and buyers or perform a sex-for-cash deal.
"It seems to me that it's someone close," Lisa said of the person or people responsible for the string of six deaths. "I knew a lot of (the victims). Some of these women are not easy to get to. It's got to be something like a vendetta."
Yet women still roam the streets. They search for that next buck or next high and they admit what they do. But beyond that, most don't like to talk about it.
A 27-year-old black prostitute who wouldn't give her name but agreed to talk reiterates what many behind shadows are thinking: "It's got to be someone with some access. A lot of these women weren't on the street prostituting."
Eleanor - although not her real name - said she and many like her have friends watching vehicles, taking license plate numbers.
"It's happening more and more," said the 40-year-old who has been on Peoria's streets, caught in a life of drugs and prostitution, since she was a teen. "Most women are scared, they're set up with guys who are going to take care of them."
Meanwhile, rumors abound; the most common placing the killer in a white pickup truck. Now, any such truck gets long stares and suspicious looks from the prostitutes.
Despite the genuine fear felt on the street, many continue looking for their next high.
"You're always looking for that next hit," said Rebecca Baughman, a former prostitute and crack addict who is now going through a drug treatment program.
"A lot of people can't or don't understand how strong that urge is - that you forget everything important to you - your family, your own life," she said.

Heh. I find that kind of humurous, since I went to grade school in the Old Spalding building, and we had mass at that Church every month. Definitely a shady part of town.Originally posted by ralph6
