I am at 6,000 pics and counting. I think it is easier to get a pic from a non-pro than from a pro. If you handle it right, they will almost always say yes.

Being polite and cheerful are certainly important, but truthfully, you just never know how the girl will react. I would say 80% will allow you to photograph them and the other 20% will not. The ones that won't are not shy but probably have a sponsor or their family would not approve of their occupation. I have also had several allow me to take photos with a promise they would stay in my private collection.
