I think brucec is probably right or close to it as far as the whores - somewere around SE Asia is likely the answer. I dont mean to make this into a discussion about something else, but I have traveled in South America and found prices on everything (yes, everything) to be so-so while I feel it would be cheaper in SEA (maybe Asia in general). So, when I was thinking about the original question here I was thinking that you would think that things would be cheaper in poor countries, which caused me to think about Africa. And I havent really traveled in Africa so dont know, but I dont think I would like Africa and was wondering if things in general might even me more expensive there (even in the poorest countries) than in SEA? In that case I wouldnt be missing out on anything and wouldnt have to go to Africa myself just to find out.
Anyone been to different parts of Africa? Is it as cheap or cheaper as Asia? i have already sort of dumped the South America continent, not because it is expensive (except Brazil of course, that is EXPENSIVE), but because why bother with it when Asia is cheaper and I happen to like Asia?

Depends on how you define "poor" - it's in the bottom four, I think, for GDP per capita, but maybe not at the absolute bottom. But I'm not sure it correlates, actually - PH and TH have a reputation for cheap whores, but neither of them is among the official lists of Highly Indebted Poor Countries or Least Developed Countries (Wikipedia has both available if you're curious).
If there is some sort of correlation, then there should be quite a lot of countries cheaper than PH or TH.
I'm from a "western" country, and have a girl friend in an LDC who could rent a house for a month for an amount that I'd think of as "half a day's pay." But I've never asked her for a price list!

When I first learned about the prices in Singapore, I was shocked. It is a relatively well developed country (and in fact most developed in Southeast Asia). Costs of living are not low naturally. But the prices for sex, considering the total value you get, are relatively low compared to other equally developed countries AFAIK.
Let me elaborate. In a "well defined" area called Geylang (note: prostitution is not legalised in Singapore), it is priced at standard S$40 (~US$25) for ST (about 25 mins). What you get is an environment of high safety from crime, "guaranteed" service level and WLs who undergo regular medical check-up, which is somehow enforced by the authority although prostitution is never legal. This we have to trust the efficiency and effectiveness of the Singapore authority, which is well recognised and pragmatic.
Could be the cheapest. That was the original question.
