    Beautiful Women In Sri Lanka

Do the women mentioned below actually exist? If so where might they be found??

"A lesser-known community, but one which perhaps stirs the imagination even more, are the Rodi. Indeed, the Rodi's intriguing myth of origin, their tragic early history, and the much-renowned beauty of their women, have combined to distinguish them from every other community in Sri Lanka. Although their beginnings are far from certain, it is possible that the Rodi were originally a hunting tribe from India. One possibility is that the first members arrived as bowmen in the retinue that accompanied the sacred Bo-tree sapling on its journey to Anuradhapura, 22 centuries ago."

The 'Rodi' are considered the gypsies of Sri Lanka, though whether they are connected to the 'Roma' in europe is doubtful.

I have heard tales that they engage in spiritual mumbo jumbo like exorcisms, curses and they are kind of nomadic and dont have a fixed abode.

You might find this bit interesting:-

" The Roma People (singular Rom; sometimes Rroma, Rrom), sometimes "Romany Folk" in the British Isles, often referred to as Gypsies, are a heterogeneous ethnic group who live primarily in Southern and Eastern Europe, Western Asia, Latin America, the southern part of the United States and the Middle East.
They are believed to have originated mostly from the Punjab and Rajasthan regions of India. They began their migration to Europe and North Africa via the Iranian plateau around 1050
Traditionally most Roma spoke Romani (Romany), an Indo-Aryan language. Today, however, most Roma speak the dominant language of their region of residence. "

According tho this article, they did originate in India and it could be possibly be that some of them did come to Sri Lanka as well. Since some time I've been thrilled at meeting the Roma in europe. Guess a wonder around the country side in Romania and Albania will be very interesting, and they do look seriously cute

Thanks for the reply and I did find it interesting. I would have never guessed the Gypsies had origins in India.

I am looking forward to you providing further details for the Rodi if you can.

Have a look at the pics shown in the links below. I know they are very old pics but I am posting this because I would like to know if there are women in Sri Lanka that exist today who are similar in appearance. (Especially the first pic!!)

...and no I do not expect that there are women running around in remote villages with their bodies exposed in present day sri lanka.

    very interesting.
during my early soujourn of southern India in the late 70s', most of the small time circuses in towns were mostly gypsy run/performers.
after a period of time, they used to move on.
now it rings the common bell.
from east europe to india .

Hey CP, Could you also let me know where I might find these ladies in the interior? I have been to SL once and plan on returning sometime this year. Do you think it would be save to visit the interior with all the political activity going on?

    O'tempora, O'mores...

Naah, you will not find women like those in the pictures, not any more.....

The white man brought with him the concept of shame; of showing your own body, as it is: The victorian morales of the 1800's. If it were not for shame why would they consent to be pictured nude? Then the 2 photos, one the pussy is bare and the other the pussy is covered with a drape around cloth shows that the photographer wanted a picture as it is (for his private collection) and one to show to the ladies in corsets in london...

The interesting thing is the white man himselef has now discarded this 'shame' thing about the natural human form (for further instructions, consult the management of the nudist beaches/clubs you find along the german and medditeranean coast line) however... WE still hold on to the victorian values of shame, and virginity.

Come on guys how many of you popped a virgin wife? (I know none of you guys are gonna answer that: in true Sri Lankan Stylee!) I'didnt pop virgin cherry and I still love her.

So back to the story, you will see all sorts of erotica in our ancient culture..from verse and poetry, to the top less murals on the rock fortress wall. This was a sexy place, note the words "was".

    The Rodiyas :-

It seems were a low caste who came with the Kings and Queens of old. My belief is they too were the Romany in Bulgaria/Romania.

Apparently, they wer NOT nomads, my previous statement is corrected.

They lived in villages. For proof see all the 'Rodiya family' pictures at: http://www.imagesofceylon.com

As they were a lowly caste, the king had forbidden them to wear anything (basically on top) to indictae their lowliness, that is why they are near naked. They were expert entertainers, singers and importatntly "weavers".

I guess since they went topless with tight breasts (see all the tight titties, I bet that you will NOT find such supple and tight titties in todays women) quite naturally the nobels of old would have felt a tingling sensation in their dong when they passed the Rodiya village. Hence, all the love stories of princeses and other hi-so's falling in love with Rodiya women and thus would have been born the so called allure of the Rodiya women over the hi-so women who were like potato sacks (of course a plant to be planted much later on).

My guess is that the Rodiya women would not have been anything exceptional in bed but, in a sex starved conservative society such a down trodden caste would have sent many a noble into veaven by sucking on thier noble dong (unlike the nobel women who would have thought the dong is only for pissing) thus creating the myth of the sexual powress of the Rodiya woman.

Also the Rodiya never ate mice or lizards as some other very low caste people do. These people are called "ahikuntikaya's". For you farang, that would translate as nomads. But they were not nomads in the sense you get in places like Monglia, where the nomads are generally livestock farmers. These people lived in temporary thached shaks made of coconut leaves or palm leaves.

The photograph you find title as a 'rodiya family' in: http://www.imagesofceylon.com/people/p62-full.jpg is a mistake.

These people are NOT Rodiya's. One, they wear clothes; Two, the house is a shack as opposed to a hut. They are these ahikuntikaya's who do snake charming and catch and eat lizards (thalagoya), which is a delicacy for them.
Also, some other photos on that site too carry incorrect titles.

I remember seeing some people like those in that photo some 2-3 years ago in an abandoned estate near the biyagama-gampaha road. About 2 familys were living in a thatched hut. I dont know what happened to them. These were not Rodiya's, and being the pervert I am (when I was 23) I was trying to think of the logistics of taking 2 women from there, washing them myself with lux spa, donning them with 4711 eu deau cologne, wrapping them with a saree without a blouse and keeping them as my fuck toys. Well, I'm gonna do that one of these days....

I was told by my faithful that the women you find selling cashew nuts along the kandy-colombo road at 'Kajugama' are descendants of Rodiya's.
It kind of makes sense, as the weavers village you find a bit down that road (where they sell all sorts of weaved stuff) seems to be connected to the Rodiya's original profession. I also remember one of my drivers saying a long, long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away that these cashew nut selling girls do cut deals with the guys who come thier way for a little fun on da side...so things do happen!

Also, I was told of a Rodiya village in Gampola; exact location I dunno.
I guess you farang guys have the time (which I dont seem to have) to plant yourself close to those areas and do some sleuthing. I suggest a bike as you have enough time to savour the surroundings and chat up. The biggest problem will be the language barrier; I suggest the line: "Rodi Minissu Inne Koheda" ie- where are the Rodi people.

Also you might find it interesting as to how those long sleeved white blouses came onto the chests of our women.

Long, long time ago..... in a galaxy far, far away...the women in the rural parts of this country specially, those in the coastal belt used to be topless... along came the white man in 1815 and after that came the Sinhala nationalist movement whose leaders were educated in the west. When they started thier movement one of the things they did (specially Anagarika Dharmapala) was to ask these women to cover up thier chests with a sinhalized version of the corset; the long sleeved blouse, the white mans renegade protege's who thought in english and spoke in sinhala got carried away I guess....

Sorry, my freind you wont find such women now, and that is why the whore house at liberty plaza (a legend in its own right!) has so much business even with all that bad service.

I'm not flaming against anyone; just a prespective. The biggest thing the white man did was to smash the caste system which was later obliterated by successive leftist governments and now is a mere shadow that makes its appearance at the time of arranged marriages.

As for me; I saw Russian bomb today and I could have sworn she was 18....we live in interesting times! Its caviar next saturday........straight from the black sea!

And as for the security..... avoid the north and the east and hanging around colombo city and you will be much, much, safer from harm than in the good old U.S of A or the United Kingdom or the Soi Nana or Phuket. I do NOT ascribe to the view that the war on terror has made your country a safer place.

One more thing, about 4 years ago National Geographic magazine ran a full articele on the Romany/Gypsies of europe and I do recall that article also saying that the Romany originated from India.

I was told there is an english book titled 'The Rodiya's of Ceylon' which gives a detailed description of the people. That might also indicate some possible locations of these people. Also told was that this book maybe available at the British council Colombo.

The Rodiyas and the Cashew Girls....

Thanks again for your response CP.

I am by no means an expert on your culture but I do agree that you see all sorts of ancient erotica Sri Lanka and India. It is a shame that all this has come to an end.

I wonder how difficult it would be to find Gampola. It is unfortunate that I do not have time to do a lot of exploring when I travel. When I travel, I try to hit a few countries so I can experience as much as I can over the course of a few weeks. I never have enough time to do/see all that I want. I cannot imagine trying to find such a place without a local guide (that I can trust). My next trip, I plan to rent a car if I can find a local who I could pay to drive me around for a couple of days exploring some of the areas outside of Colombo. Maybe to find Gampola?

I am glad you brought up the Cashew girls as that was my next question. I did see a few (maybe 6 or 7) of them on my way back from the Elephant Orphanage. I was going to ask my driver to stop but before I knew it we had driven past all the girls and I didn’t want to ask him to turn around. I did read after I returned from my trip that these girls may do other things besides sell Cashews. I wish I would have know this before my trip to SL. On my next trip, I definitely plan to check these girls out. Are the Cashew girls out year round or is there a particular time of the year when you would find them in abundance at the roadside stands?

Let us know how you enjoyed your caviar.

of cashew nuts and other edible fruits........

As for a rented car, best will be to get one from your hotel or ask then to refer one of their long standing tour agents. Never trust the drivers too much like leaving your wallet or camera in the car unattended. Insist that he talks english. Well the rest is up to you, there guys do know where to get boom boom. A tip of around 1000 will work magics. But ask the bugger, our people are shy.

As for the cahsew girls, I 'think' they are there all year around. Stop the car a bit away from there and snoop around on foot drinking king coconut, making silly jokes (guys, girls love those, at least in their native language) saying 'wai' to eveyone, get comfy and drop the question about humpin.

The most enjoyable thing will be these women wear the sinhaleese blose and the drape around cloth on their waist or the 'redda hatte' It'll be fun humping someone in the traditional village costume.

I am looking forward to my next trip equipped with all the info. learned from this board. Any advice on hotels? Last trip I spent most nights at Indra regent but also spent some time at Ceylon Continental and Trans Asia. I guess as far as pampering the Continental was the best but Indra was good for my wallet (although my room at Indra sucked big time).

Also, how far is Liberty Plaza from Indra? Is it walking distance? Is it on Galle Rd?

Thanks again CP. If you are ever in LA maybe we can take a run down to TJ and I can show you around a little bit.

    Beautiful rodi girls

    underdog9,

Thanks for bringing up this interesting topic. Certainly that girl in http://www.imagesofceylon.com/people/p136-full.jpg is stunningly beautiful, more so than any Miss Sri Lanka in recent memory.

It does seem to be a fact that Sri Lankans on average are less beautiful than say Brazilians or Thais. I wonder whether the caste system is responsible for this. A race will become more beautiful if rich, powerful men select beautiful, poor girls for sex and breeding. (We have to keep in mind that latex condoms have only been widely available for the past 100 years or so) In Brazil there was no taboo against a rich landowner selecting a beautiful slave-girl as his sexual partner.

If the beautiful women from minority groups in Sri Lanka such as the rodi (There may have been other such groups in the past) were ostracized as being low-caste, those genes for beauty would have tended to die out.

    Underdog9,
Indra Regency and The Liberty Plaza are on the same Road. (Duplication Road) It is about a mile apart.
A tip on Indra Regency... the Doormen are good pimps. They organize some good local women to your room. They try to over charge you.... but you can bring them down to about Rs5,000/-

Speaking of Indra Regency, any idea what the best rate is and how I can get it? I don't want to overpay.

    Interesting point Tea Boy,

I hope those genes still exist somewhere.

On a similar note, I have visited St. Dennis, Reunion and many women there are of a mixed racial background. I don't think I have ever seen so many beautiful women in one place.

    Sheraz,

I paid about $41 US per night 1 year ago and I booked online. This was a small room with a twin sized bed.

    Thanks for the tip Gajaman.

What would be an acceptable tip for the doormans services?

Also, does anyone know if the hostesses in the club/karaoke bar in Indra are available. I think one of them told me they also live in the hotel but I think they may have someone watching them to make sure they do not visit any of the guests rooms.
