Judge Slaps Hotel Managers with Fines for Running Prostitution Ring

MARTINSBURG, WV- Two Martinsburg Motel managers will each spend 15 months in jail for running a prostitution ring out of their motels.

54-year-old Dan Patel and 44-year-old Sam Singh were convicted in April of 2005 for inducing women to travel across state lines for prostitution. Singh owned and managed the Economy Inn and Patel managed the Scottish Inn, both on Route 11 in Martinsburg.

Prosecutors said the two recruited prostitutes through newspaper ads by offering discounted room rates. The judge slapped them with hefty fines and ordered Singh to forfeit $150,000 and Patel $27,000.
