    Newbie Questions Re: Malaysia

I've traveled to Thailand 9 times and the PI 4 times in the last 5 years. Once in the LOS in last January and once in the PI in last March. I'm planning my next trip for November to the LOS. Thinking I might try a side trip to a new destination for mongering and just because I would like to visit a new place, see new things, experience a different culture, different food and well, you know.

I've been reading thru the Malaysia forum for 3 Hrs. I've tried a number of searches and I'm just not making much progress.

I'm not asking for a disertation on mongering in Malaysia. But some good forum links would be nice.

For example useful links that would answer the following questions would get me on the right track.

What's the mongering scene like in Malaysia? Why would I try a side trip there vs. Myranmar (Burma), Cambodia, Vietnam or Indonesia?

What's the best place to visit in Malaysia for mongering and other stuff. (e.g., I love the PI girls, but AC sucks culturally and the food is abysmal.)

What's the deal with all of the code words and acronyms? Is there a link that translates all of that stuff?

What kind of action is available and where is it? How do the various mongering venues work? How much should one expect to pay?

There is so much stuff in this forum that it would take me months of sifting through it to answer just a few of the questions above.

    TIA,

    Nuevo

    Nuevo1,
if given the opportunity, most M'sian would prefer to do their mongering elsewhere, such as Thailand, or Indonesia. But that takes time and money. Yes M'sia have places for mongering, mostly at Karoake, health club and escort agency. But then again only about 70 % practised that. therefore this forum is aimed at sharing which centers offer what, at what price and what is available.
These days we see a lot of the girls arefrom PRC. Locals available but very minimum.
Also, M'sian govt. are not exactly approving it either. They are closing one eyes most of the time but every once in a while, there'll be raids. -- reason for code words and acronyn. However it is a poor attempt at covering the name as most of the people who frequent this forum are aware of the places and even the MIB.

To really try local produce, Thailand, PI , Indonesia is a great potential.
WE find it cheaper doing mongering there as well.
This is not meant to discourage you from visiting M'sia but if your itenary is strictly mongering, M'sia is not the place to be.

    For some useful info :
places for mongering : major cities in M'sia -- KL, Penang, Johor Baharu,Ipoh
Places to look for __ Health center, Karoake, escort
For escort: type Ms'an YAHOO, search for escort. there's a few.
Look in the papers (KL) --- SUN paper is a good source. look for massage etc.
ask if they offer "special services".
Ask the local bell boy for help.
Costs : RM 200 - RM 300 for ST, RM600-RM800 for LT depending on your source.

    hope this help

I do agree, Thailand, Indonesia may be a better place for mongering, but in term of service I rate Malaysia highly, places like Ipoh's Robin, Penang' Cathay...etc provides excellent service while most of the Thai gals doesn't even give BJ.
In short, if u come to Malaysia u just has to lie down and the gal will do all the job whereby in Thailand, it's the other way round, the gals lie there and u do the job instead.

    Thank you pbv and Jotan

This information is indeed helpful. I'm off to work now but will provide a more detailed response tonight. Perhaps some other questions also.

Dude, ppl brag abt Thailand being the haven for sex but the gals are kinda lame. I certainly agree with jotan65. If you're coming to Malaysia - u gotta be heading to KL as its where all the action is and tons of gals readily available for a minimal price (US$40 - 80 for health spas). Compared to what you would pay in US, this is like chump change. Some more established health spas will even accept credit cards or foreign cash.

Thailand has it's good and bad points. Actually, during my last two trips (last November and this past January) the girls' service was up several notches. Much better in fact, over half the girls provided BBBJs without any asking from me (during my prior trips going back almost 6 years, I hardly ever got a BBBJ unless in a BJ bar, from the girls in the Fishbowls, or at Eden club where it is considered part of the service). With a couple of exceptions, GFE was the norm on the last 2 trips. And the prices had dropped considerably from the previous two years back to where they were 4 years ago. On average 1,200 Baht ST and 2,000 LT in BKK and Phukett and somewhat less in Pattaya. I didn't pay more than 2,500 LT even in the Nana Plaza GoGos. A while back I had GoGo girls walking away if I wouldn't cough up 3,000 Baht or more. And the service was often lousey.

The thing I like about the LOS, and the PI for that matter, is that you can take the girls out at night for dinner or dancing without any problems or hassles from the host country locals.

I will start and end my trip in the LOS this time. But, I want to try out a new venue during my next visit. This will probably be a 6 or 7 day side trip. So maybe I will check out a couple of places so I can bring back my friends at a later date. Let's call this a scouting trip.

So I'm thinking on checking out KL and Karimun Is. for 3 or 4 days each.

I'm in the very beginning of planning this trip. I don't need to plan for the LOS portion. The side trip planning is a bit more daunting as I don't have a clue about M'las'a or Indonesia other than the little reading I've done to date on this forum. But, I am looking forward a quick exploration of these 2 venues.

So my first question is an important one to me. I'm coming alone and am a "blue" American with no language skills other than English. I've traveled a lot and mongered quite a bit in the process. I've always got along quite well in new countries as I am courteous and respectful and I always try to learn a few basic words or phrases (so I can say 'thank you', for example.) I have learned that a smile and some laughter are much better at making friends with the people providing me service rather than taking a harsh attitude when things don't go my way. I drink, but avoid getting very drunk unless I am in a very safe place like in my room with friends.

Given all of that, how do you think I would fare in KL and Kurinam all by my dumb self? I will try to identify and contact a reccomended guide prior to departure for both venues. So, do you think I will be a happy monger or BBQed by the locals within 24 hours of my arrival?

How far will my inadequate language skills get me? From my readings so far, not much English is spoken, even by the guides.

I need to figure out how to get from BKK to KL, from KL to Kurinam, and back to BKK. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Take care all,

Most Malaysian can speak English to a certain extend, so communication will be no problem. Now let's decide where u should go, to spend ur mongering session in KL will be a waste of time as it'd be another city to u, I believe Penang will be a much better place as it has beaches and some historical background which u might be interested.

    I say yes.

Based on Johan's suggestion, I did some research. I am interested in nice beaches and historical places and the Malaysian and PRC girls and maybe other types as well. Plus there is an added advantage. I can fly from BKK to Hatyai for very little $ and explore the Thai border (cowboy) towns for nighttime adventure too during my visit. YAHOO! (that's American Cowboy for WOW or HOORAY!)

Thanks Johan - Your suggestion gives you my vote for Penang's Minister of Tourism!

    Response by Penang travellers

    Steve Holt<steve@inuendos.co.uk>

My first visit to Penang was in 1980 and I was hooked on the culture the lifestyles the history the people but most of all a strange kind of intangible magic that grabbed my soul. Now I've got to keep returning to make sure its ok - my soul that is. I try to get back at least once a year. Well maybe you will all know from previous comments which is my favourite bar in all the world - yep Hong Kong Bar on Chulia St. I have so many happy memories of that bar, every bar has a right to have character but the Hong Kong abuses the privilege. The family that runs it seems to remember everyone and sometimes its hard to get out when its quiet and Annie is saying awww go on have one for the road; hey should I care though. There is a picture of me as a much younger man in one of their books in the back room and many of my stories and signatures in the books below the bar. Maybe Penang itself isn't quite the same now as it used to be, but where is? I would still love to retire their from the uk, eventually, and then I could become a regular at Hong Kong bar. Of course I know that there is much much more to the Pearl of the Orient - Penang, than a bar on Chulia Street. What a great site, thanks so much for all the pictures.

    Jerry & Helen<jerry @stretchbreak.co.uk>

The people were friendly, trishaw men great guys, and as for the Hong Kong Bar we had one of those evenings where Helen got chatted up by a salty Canadian seaman, and I (Jerry) was asked to bring back some books to an unknown address somewhwere in London, all good fun, but beware the naive traveller. Food excellent, my Dad who lives in Thailand, loves it as well, satay the best.. and lots of bargains to be had in the Sam's Batik House. We will be back soon.....

I remember the Hong Kong Bar very well from the first half of 1973when I was a regular visitor to Penang on the MT Cree, a small product carrier (tanker) which was on charter to Shell. I am sure the proprietor's daughter was called "Annie" Is she still around? There used to be an amazing collection of photo albums lining the walls and every visitor seemed to get his photo taken. Annie's memory for faces was incredible and she would instantly recognise people who hadn't been near Penang for years! We never missed a visit to the Hong Kong Bar even though it seemed to be the only bar in town that wasn't a "Girlie Bar" Memories!

Hi there, What do you see here? If you ask me that I would say I see colors, life, spirit, unity in diversities of cultures, religion and languages curious men and women cladded in colored cottons thriving businesses noisy buses and cars silently pedalled trishaws heaven for drinkers epicurean dishes begging personalities (well versed in the way of Chulia Street) sincerity veiled in innocence of a child roaming culprits as well... all in all its a meeting point for humanity to learn and earn some may yearn to come back again. What you see is what you get; What you feel is what you are; what you take is what your tongue and stomach will tell; what you gain is gainful experience or if you are negative in outlook..maybe painful experience. ENJOY THE STAY.CHULIA STREET is here for you to SEE and SAY.

Hong kong bar rocks!! Lots and lots of people....and army guys *big grin* just joking, it's nice to meet everybody and around this area is like one big family. The drunks are happy cos they think everything is hilarious, the sobers are happy cos they are laughing at the drunks, and the bar people are happy cos they are making money. Agree with "Ab",assoc with the Oasis hotel is the "Rainbow forrest Resturant" friendly service and staff. I don't work there and I don't have any financial intrest there. Two of the best places for ROTI are just before Chulia st if you are coming from the KOMPTAR KOMPLEX.Midlands mall is on Burmah st a 5 to 10 min ride, good to spend a good day looking at the Malaysian girls.Love Georgtown and Penang Island.

    Ab<basri1@hotmail.com>

Undoubtedly the best place to stay in this area if you're on a budget is the Oasis Hotel on LoveLane, off Chulia Street. A colonial mansion, their staff are most friendly. I got a room there for RM20, with RM8 for dorm beds. Hard Life Reggae Bar is just across the street. 24 hour "Line Clear" Nasi kandar is absolute heaven.

Chulia Street is the most interesting street in georgetown, full with lively street activities and the most historical street, i'm currently studying architecture in final year, n 've discovered a lot of fascinating value along this street,...its shophouses, food, street cafe nite life and everything...and i even met my current boyfriend there...:-)

    anon

I live there since baby times. i move out when i was in 20 years old. after living there for such a long time, i can frankly tell u all it is a very amazing place. the ppl here start their biz as early as 6am (for hawker store) and later on 8am for shop houses here, then when after biz hours, then the night hawker start their respective biz at around 6p.m. till 1a.m. as u can c, the area here is always in a non stop action (activity). but since the government passed the law that enable the owner of the pre war house to raise the rent, then alot of the citizen in chulia st. move out. i m 1 of them. bcoz of this, now chulia st. is just onli a biz area. and at night, the feeling is totally not the same as in the past. may b can describe it as lifeless. i really miss the old times of mine in Chulia St. may b this is somethg we need to face in the era of development, the heritage of the past is somethg we have to sacrify. after all no pain no gain. hahaha. anyhow, it still a good place to drop by, coz we still can take a look at some historic building here. have a nice time when u drop by...........
