Can anyone explain to me how the KTV's work
Is the deal that you pay for a room and female company by buying expensive drinks?
Can you take the girl away..is there any sex allowed
Been to a couple but couldn't quite figure what was going on due to language barrier

KTVs work like this:

You usually go to a KTV with a group of friends and hire a room with karaoke facilities.

The mamasan will bring a group of women into the room and you all take your pick. If you are not satisfied with the women the mamasan will bring another group of women in.

Once you have chosen your woman she will drink with you and play drinking games with you. You can touch her throughout the evening.

At the end of the evening you can pay her RMB100 to RMB300 for drinking with you (depending on what sort of place you are at). If you want to take her home you will need to pay more (again price depends on the place you are at).

KTV tends to cost quite a bit, I normally end up paying around RMB1,000 for a night out (per person) without any extras. Of course you can go for much less money but depends entirely whether you want good quality. Bear in mind there is normally a minimum charge for the rooms.

All in all, KTV is a great night out and you tend to get quite drunk.

Sound like fun..RMB 1000 for the night is not that expensive if that includes the drinks..However this is expensive for me as 1 drink will put me away on the couch for the night and I won't remember what happen the next morning

I went to a great KTV the other day with business assiciates near Shenzhen. It is located in a nice 4-star local hotel with a great restaurant. Sorry, but I do not know the price, though a 300RBM tip to each of the 6 girls in our room seemed to make them very happy. I was the guest, so I had a girl at each side all night...taking turns tongue-kissing each was a lot of fun. I am sure either/both would have went up to the hotel with me, but I did not want to be THIS indiscreet in-front of my associates. LOL We were all pretty drunk except for out driver.

I guess the KTV are for groups of people? Can you go alone and have a couple of girls or more..RMB 300 is about what you pay for a 141 girl for 1 hour..You wouldn't know what they wanted to stay the night at your hotel..and is it safe to do this in ShenZhen?

I see KTV's as an entertaining night out with lovely ladies. If you need the sure thing, then by all means go elsewhere such as 141. (These KTV girls are of a much higher class and educational level and are much more attractive than any of the 141 girls who I have met.) For me, the experience of this local KTV tradition is much more interesting than schtooping a local lass for the price of a decent meal. I'm all about the "experience" and I have seldem found a great sexual experience for 300RMB. For this price, the 141 girl will not speak a word of English! The girls at the KTV both gave me their numbers, so I could have easily met them the next night... but my dance card was already pretty full, so I did not call. Frankly, I have always found all of China to be very to fairly safe -- though I'm from the streets of a very rough American city, so perhaps I'm a bit immune to it after 15 years of visiting.

heymickey is spot on, KTV is more about a good night out and the "experience". However, there are plenty of optional extras at the end of the evening if you desire it or if you can still get it up after drinking too much.

There are many KTV places in Shenzhen which have lounges where you can go on your own or in a small group. I have tried this once or twice but not as fun as going in a group and getting a private room.

I have never tried the extras though because I have only ever been to KTV with colleagues and relatives and I do not really want them to have anything on me.

However, I do recall from a trip to Shanghai last year at a classy KTV joint that the girls charged RMB1,500 to go home with you. Bear in mind that the girls are stunning.

If you only want to get it on you would might as well go for 141 or a dodgy massage parlour.

KTV is fun if you're into conversation, singing and drinking.
Going alone is alright if you can find a girl who can converse in English, else it is going to be a long night doing hand signal.
As for over KTV to room, most will follow you up. It is extra income for them.
You have to negotiate with the mamma-san or lounge manager if you want to take her earlier. Make sure you negotiated for either LT or ST. Some girl want to go back after one session even at 2-3 am in the morning. by having set expectation, the mammasan can ensure you get thebest service. Else you
can threathen to complain to the mamasan the next day if you're still around.
To avoid misunderstanding.

141 is straight to the action. the girls are more experience in the bedroom
scene as compared to those from KTV.
As for chemistry, it is between you and them. Sometimes you struck gold . sometimes you get into hell hole.
