Last visited Pontianak in May/June 2006. Stayed at two hotels - Kini and Kapuas.

Hotel Kini is the best hotel in Pontianak. Standard room rate is 315,000 Rupiah. Recommended by airlines ground crew in Kuching, Sarawak. It is situated right in the city centre. Spent a night, but changed accommodation the next day to Hotel Kapuas (235,000 Rupiah) to avoid busy traffic and dusty street.

A couple of years back, there was a sort of mongering complex ala Surabaya (Dolly) and Karimun (Rukko). It was razed down by religious zealots. However, freelancers can be found at the only active disco in town (forgot its name).

Last visited pontianak two weeks ago. Stayed at Gajahmada Hotel. Lots of Kuching ppl stay there, as seens by the number of Kuching no. plate vehicle parked at the basement. Room from Rp200,000 to Rp300,000.

Ask any bellboy at the door and they will offer massage service in the room. negotiate extra direct with the gals. Damage ST Rp350,000
