Prime Minister Thaksin Has just resigned following overwhelming pressure from the general public and senior ministers.
He hopes his resignation will help to unify the country and bring greater prosperity for all its people.

    Good for

    Sorry Frog I disagree.

Tourism bring way too much $$. And way too many jobs. No matter the type of tourism. How important is Tourism in Thailand? Just look at the large quantity of police and military on the streets in Sukhumvit. Hell even the JW Marriott has at least 3 different mid-level Military folks sitting on their arses to make sure the unruly realize the military supports tourism aka. hotels paying for protection.

Besides -someone somewhere will pay off whoever to make sure they get 'whatever' they want.

They love the tourist bucks but not us disgusting sex tourists,Thaksin put money before principle but the new guy might decide to make a point. My guess is that we might see a high profile purge of the go go's etc followed by a return of the Status Quo.

It's a bit too early to say what will happen. Thais are quite volatile people. The peaceful karma of Buddism could easily disappear if there is a lot of in-fighting between rivals.

Someone last year told me that Taxin was "holding it all together" and anything could happen.

Yes, tourism is important. But at the end of the day, Thais don't really care a hoot about anybody, just themselves.

Depends on the new Guys politics. But, it's rarely ever good news for a farang.

Glad I didn't buy a house in LOS...

    Its funny

See Ms. Grace says this whole corruption, infighting is wrong and not good for Thai. It hurt economy and people -she says. So from the educated Thai point of view -they want growth and good economy.

Yes -Thai Rak Thai for sure. And I have called her on it -many times. 'Of course' she says!

Well she is right -USA Rak USA. England Rak England. And need I say anything about those crazy French who love no one.

But you are right -its a bit early -sadly if there is change I suspect it will be sweeping and painful for LOS in general. Any hiccup here -and the world powers starts to think Thailand is collapsing.

umm uneducated people think corruption and infighting is good?
It's easy to point fingers at others when you don't even have the opportunity to partake in the spoils

They can purge bars and gogos, Isaan bargirl factory will still exist and not all of them know how to hook a farang over the Internet so face to face interactions will still be required to sucker em in
    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
