OAKLAND (BCN)
Oakland police conducted a prostitution sting Friday night, arresting 10 people for solicitation.
It was the second such sweep of 2006 and focused on the area of 103rd Avenue and International Boulevard.
Police say three of the ten people arrested were additionally charged with possession of narcotics. Ten vehicles were seized.
The sweep is part of Oakland's "Beat Feet'' operation, a program that targets prostitution customers in order to reduce prostitution, pimping and associated crimes such as drug and weapon violations.
Police said half of those arrested were Oakland residents and the rest were from other East Bay cities.
